Nishapur is one of the most important Iranian cities in the Last Historical up to the Midd-Islamic periods. Thanks to the Metropolitan Museum, the Louvre Museum, and Iranian archaeological expeditions, some parts of the city especially in the Islamic period have been revealed. Lack of contextual information about Nishapur in the Pre-Islamic period is a common feature at archaeological excavations that caused the writing of the present book. Nishapur Revisited: Stratigraphy and Ceramics of the Qohandez by Rocco Rante and Annabelle Collinet, the Louvre Museum researchers, is one of the most recently published books about Nishapur history and archaeology. The most important question of this paper is how the writers revised the history of Nishapur based on some archaeometry studies. The two sub-questions of the article are as follows: Did the writers able to investigate the approaches of the book in a scientific method? Could the book effectively resolve some questions in Iranian studies? Approach of the paper is critical interpretation. The archaeological data of the paper is collected by field and library data. To answer the questions, the ideas of the writers in the book chapters have been revised. In the following, this book has been criticized and evaluated.

Alessandro Bausani, who is one of the most important European Orientalists, is considered also as the greatest Islamist in Italy. This famous researcher, along with his research works concerning Islam and Iran, has published a translation and a brief commentary on the Quran in Italian. His work, being undoubtedly a remarkable source for the Western Orientalists, is one of the most famous translations of the Quran into European languages.Annotations and commentary of Bausani, containing a kind of recapitulation of the ideas of distinguished commentators, for their brevity and their accuracy are unsurpassed among the works of Islamists in Europe. In this article, we have tried to analyze the translation and commentary of Bausani, citing curious examples of his work. Also, since the translation of the Italian Orientalist is obviously based upon the structure of a Romance language, through philological analysis, we have tried to examine the possible connotations that a European reader might have of the aforementioned opus.

The present article reviews and criticizes the book “al-'Adb al-Mesri Fi zill al-hokm al-ottoman” written by Mohammad Seyyed Kiliani, a contemporary Egyptian writer (1998-1912). The method of work has been form and content critiques to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the book. According to the results of this research, the present book unfortunately, both in appearance and in content, suffers from major weaknesses some of which are lack of attention to the rules of writing Arabic language, the inability to use proper signs of paging, failure to comply with book chapter pages, overlap of some chapters of the book, providing unilateral and directional judgments away from the spirit of scientific discussion, lack of referencing and observance of scholarship, the existence of explanations and the presentation of non-related materials to the title of the book, inadequate explanation of some parts of the book, especially in chapters five and six, lack of a list of references, weaknesses in analysis and concealment of the scientific character of the writer. According to the abovementioned critiques, the book does not deserve to be used as a source of study in the history of Ottoman literature, but it can be suggested as a source for studying and critique for graduate students.

Neotraditionalism or neoclassicism in international relations refers to the thinking movement of those scholars who, through preserving the resistant core or the protective belt of classical theories make attempts to update these theories in the context of covering new developments. Realism is the most stable theoretical tradition of international relations encompassing various scholars in the context of classical tradition and its new form, namely, neorealism and neoclassical realism. One of the neoclassical realist thinkers of international relations is John Vasquez who raises serious assumptions in his studies about the status and position of realism as a paradigm in the theoretical domain of international relations. Vasquez believes that as a paradigm realism laid the groundwork for the formation of empirical rather than normative and historical science in international relations. He believes that the outcome of this situation has so far been a consensus on an image of global politics and researching it in theorizing field. According to Vasquez, despite the emergence of a pluralistic situation in the history of theoretical thought in international relations, realism in this field is still forerunner and its research program has a hegemonic status. While exploring the philosophical intellectual foundations and evolution of Vasquez's thought, this article reveals some of his transtheoretical and practical deficiencies of his detailed articulation of the theorizing process in international relations.

In this paper, we intend to introduce, criticize, and analyze the book “After Method”; written by John Law and translated by Mojtaba Azizi. The book is published in 2004 by Routledge. “After Method” is asking a massive evolution in methodology. Also, it criticizes the main stream of ontology and epistemology. First, the theoretical context of the book, its main ideas, the writer, and the translator are introduced. In the following, the book is criticized for both form and substantive content. Formally, some writing tips, typographic, and editorial notes are observed. In the content section, firstly the translation of the specialized terminology is discussed. Then, some sentences are chosen, the translation of which makes understanding the text difficult. Comparisons between the original text and the translated text are made. The problems are shown and suggestions are also provided. The translation of such novels, on the one hand, expands and enriches the literature in Persian, and on the other hand, it is always confronted with difficulties. The ambiguity of translating some of the specialized terminology and the inability to translate the concepts into the reader is the main problem of the translation.

The aim of this study is to discuss the method of teaching economics with a localization and modernization approach. Since the field of economics is constantly evolving and progressing, achieving this goal requires continuous modernization. Therefore, teaching economics with localization and modernization approach is inevitable. The localization of economics in all societies requires much attention to the structure, conditions and realities of the economy as well as the norms and values of the societies. In Islamic societies, such requirement means that economics has to be thought with an Islamic approach. The key to succeed in this matter is the availability of economists who are well aware of Islamic economics with great experiences in teaching and conducting research and also the availability of relevant materials and textbooks in this field. According to the findings of the study, the first step in teaching economics is to begin with critical evaluation of the concept of economic man and to continue with investigation of some methodological considerations. To this end, it is need the scientific theories should be considered as a set of explanatory propositions explaining the causal relationship between the variables involved. These propositions consist of presumptions, normative propositions and positive propositions. Religious beliefs and moral values are highly effective in structuring the presumptions and creating and developing the scientific theories. The study indicates that the education system should give a great priority to the way of thinking about economics and using creative approaches. Likewise, blind promotion of economic theories should be avoided. We should not give any ideological importance to the presumptions and the dominant analytical approaches, and one must avoid acceptance of these presumptions and theories without adequate attention. Unlike the dominant claim in the economic literature, the actual behavior of people is severely affected by moral considerations and consists of a very rich set of values and moral preferences. The empirical evidence shows that in developed societies like the United States, Germany and Russia, as well as communities such as migrating tribes of Indonesian, people’s behavior is not based on selfishness. In the present time, people show significant interest in moral and religious approaches, and the Islamic societies are faced with high demand for providing Islamic economic texts and teaching economics with Islamic approach. To this end, it is necessary to arrange and draw up economic courses with an Islamic approach for undergraduate and higher levels, particularly as regards microeconomics.

Abstract In line with the recent developments in English language teaching in the Iranian context and the changes in schools’ textbooks and materials, the present study aimed to evaluate English for Schools (Prospect 1; Junior Secondary Program) from the viewpoint of task-based language teaching and syllabus design. To this end, Ellis’s (2003) general task framework was utilized. Exercises in all eight lessons of the book were analyzed based on this framework and afterwards, based on the given criteria, their nature was studied. The findings showed that only 16 out of a total of 57 exercises (28%) had a task-based structure/design. Thus, it can be claimed that the book’s design does not follow a task-based approach. Failure to use authentic input, scarcity of interactions opportunities between students, and numerous exercises (drills) which lacked useful outcomes can be counted as the main reasons for the gap between this publication’s design from a task-based approach and its eventual lack of efficiency.

Identifying the end of a science is one of the criteria for knowing that science. In philosophy, philosophers seek to define science based on the end they determine for it. This article represents Wittgenstein’s view on the end of philosophy in Hutto’s words. Hutto begins his argument with the issue of ‘logic’. Afterwards, he challenges the former interpretations on this issue: First, a theoretical interpretation - smacked of metaphysics - is rejected and then, a therapeutic interpretation - upon which many Tractatus remarks are meaningless - is denied. In the end, Hutto’s new interpretation, which is based on description and activism in daily life, is presented. This article discusses that there are also criticisms on Hutto’ new interpretation and a close scrutiny on the components of this new interpretation is required.

Behaviral Finance and Wealth Mangement (2006), written by Michael Pompian and translated into Persian by Ahmad Badri, tries to show the deficiencies of classical finance in modeling investment behaviors based on the rational economic models. Using psychological approach, the most important characteristic of the book is its practical aspects, and it can be used as a handbook guideline for investment advisors which is the author’s expertise. Most of the book is about introducing twenty behavioral and cognitional bios as well as some tests and case studies to recognize them. Although the translation is acceptable, there are some punctuation errors, and choosing some unfamiliar terms affects the readers’ understanding. Emphasizing the operational dimensions, the author has neglected the systematic and coherent approach to the theoretical and financial dimensions of the behavior. Moreover, there are some complete misconceptions about conventional finance, such as misconceptions about the curve of indifference and the nature of work in economics, ignoring normative controversies about economic rationality, emphasizing positive and empirical methods, and neglecting ethics and moral conflicts.

The author applied different theories and concepts generally with Marxist orientation to examine the causes, processes, and consequences of Iran’s revolution. The reduction of political struggle to class struggle and linking ideologies to classes and objective interests is the interesting but controversial feature of this book. This paper reviews the book in terms of method, theory, and historical data, and it finally concludes that despite applying various methods and extensive use of data and documentation, detailed explanations of the Islamic Revolution, the emergence of political Islam, and also the nature of the state in the Islamic Republic of Iran have not been offered. This article searches the causes of this failure in the author’s interest and inclination to the Marxist theories and uncritical application of modern concepts and theories in the Iranian society.

Abstract The goal of this paper is to review the book titled Sociology of Art by Dr. Amir Hossein Arianpour. The paper starts with a short introduction on the form of the book and discusses the contents and themes in the work and briefly presents some scientific and research points which were not observed. In the beginning of the paper by emphasizing on the Roland Barthes’s The Death of the Author (French: La mort de l'auteur) thesis, the author tries- with all due respects to the author of the book- to leave out all futile concerns and compliments in order to present a clear, transparent and explicitly self-sustaining critique through adopting necessary analysis. However, before reaching that result, a brief review is presented on various theories on arts such as arts for the sake of arts, followership art and vanguard art and by giving some definitions on them, the research continues by presenting arguments on the opinion that the book is not up-to-date. In the meantime, before conclusion, there are some suggestions on the context of the book which could familiarize the reader with the approach of sociology in arts. In the last stage; i.e., conclusion, all items that should be observed on reviewing and critique in this book have been presented in an arranged order,

Abstract: An audience who is attracted to a book by its title will undoubtedly search the first pages of the book for the grounds justifying their attraction. The objectives and questions suggested by the author will in some way involve the minds of the readers and encourage them to read the book. Sometimes this encouragement is combined with a sense of wonder and fascination, as the author may have managed to break the classifications and structures formed in the minds of the readers through a mechanism of defamiliarization. The book entitled Contemporary literary theories and critique is an example of this sort, which intends to comprehensively introduce a diverse range of topics in a very compact volume, to achieve several goals, and simultaneously to address some questions, which do not perfectly match the presented goals. The aim of this review is to assess the method of responding the presented questions and measure the credibility of these responses, in addition to the evaluation of the level of access of the author to the presented goals and his adherence to the rules of reading.

One of the lessons considered essential for the better understanding of Quranic knowledge in the field of Persian literature is familiarity with Quranic sciences. But, this lesson has some drawbacks in goals, syllabuses, and educational books that have diminished its importance, attractiveness and effectiveness, which havegreatly influenced this lesson. Three important and widely circulated textbooks are written by the scholars Radmanesh, Halabi, and Rokni. While these textbooks possess some merits such as inclusion of the most significant Quranic Sciences, useful and valuable information in this regard as well as some literary topics proportionate to the subject, they also have some demerits and drawbacks. The critical problem is the lack of a comprehensive and methodological approach to include the literary subjects related to the syllabus designs which are mentioned in the educational books on Introduction to Quranic Sciences, which, along with such factors as comprehensive and non-impediment of teaching lessons, addressing unnecessary material, the lack of prioritization of Qur'anic topics based on its reflection in literature and turmoil. In compiling the content of textbooks, this lesson has been thrown into the fringe of specialized Persian literature courses. In this research, we try to find ways to improve the quality of the lesson and improve its status through a descriptive-analytical method along with pathology and critique of the educational sections and academic courses of the Quranic sciences familiarizing.

Entrepreneurship transforms the challenges of regions into opportunities such as increasing employment and income rates, reducing crimes caused by unemployment and poverty. Clearly, entrepreneurship development is not possible without efficient institutions that respond creatively and entrepreneurially to local and regional issues and challenges. Hence, the purpose of the present study is to identify the institutional barriers to entrepreneurship development in Iran from a historical perspective before the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Therefore, 12 sources related to Iran's underdevelopment have been selected and were analyzed by using the theme analysis strategy and Atlas T software in two stages of open and axial coding. According to the results, the main root of entrepreneurship underdevelopment in Iran should be examined in the course of history, and the unfavorable business environment at the present time is not the only reason for the lack of entrepreneurship development in Iran . The most important institutional barriers identified in the studied texts can be classified into 6 main categories: administrative barriers, economic barriers, social and cultural barriers, legal and regulatory barriers, political barriers, personal and cognitive barriers, which are part of these barriers (administrative, economic, legal-regulatory, political) in the category of formal institutions and another part (socio-cultural and cognitive-personal) in the category of informal institutions.

Academic textbooks should be written in a way that meets the needs of the audience in various related scientific and research fields. To this end, critical evaluation of academic texts is a vital step in the consistency of any discipline and its curriculum. This need is especially felt in the recently established field of Folklore literature. The books that have been written so far about the basics of this newly established discipline are not more than a limited number, but these studies are expanding day by day, so it is vital to criticize these sources in order to improve the quality of the books. Undoubtedly, every written text has useful and significant aspects, and it probably has some issues that reminding and solving would result in the work`s edition. With this description, in order to achieve such a goal, the present article, with a descriptive-analytical method and a critical approach, reviewed one of the most important books in the field of Folk literature, namely "Folklore Culture". The most important results of this research are shortcomings such as not addressing the research background of the issues raised, generalization in some cases, purely descriptive approach, lack of organized connection between theory and other parts of the book, etc., as well as finding the advantages and innovative aspects of this book. This work, with minor modifications, can be valuable work for researchers in the field of Folk literature.
