This article aims at the critical study of the book Violence and Social Orders written by North and his colleagues. Political violence is a frequent phenomenon and has great consequences in the political life of societies. Hence, it has attracted many social and political scientists since ancient times. The rise of new forms of political violence from the beginning of the third millennium, caused its reconsideration by different thinkers. This book by North and his colleagues is considered as a pioneer and creative work regarding the issue of violence and its relationship with development from the perspective of political economy and historical-comparative approach to provide a conceptual framework for understanding and analyzing ways of control of political violence in limited access social orders and open access social orders. The main idea of the book examines the basic rationale of social orders and the explanation of the transition from natural governments to open access orders and reduction of violence through the coalition of elites or political and economic competition. In spite of various innovative and creative ideas presented in this book, its critical reading, represents some shortcomings such as reductionist understanding of the political violence, teleological and ideological understanding of the open-access order and acceptance of modernization paradigm and uni-linearism in the transformation of societies and the neglect of the asymmetrical and hierarchical relations between developed and developing countries.

The book “Graphics for Learning” is the result of the valuable efforts of Ruth Colvin Clark and Chopeta Lyones in explaining graphics to facilitate learning. The main premise of the book is that the use of graphics (visual elements) alongside words facilitates learning compared to words alone. The authors’ efforts in presenting the material are accompanied by features such as the use of research evidence and action-based cognitive theory in real-life learning situations, clear and integrated expression, and up-to-datedness, to distinguish this book from other books in graphic design. Another special feature of the book is the use of graphic guides or instructions on how to use visual elements to enhance the processes of learning psychology and to learn different types of course content. The existence of a general map of the book and an explanation of the position of each section and each chapter in relation to the collection of contents have led to the integration and formation of a mental map. However, in selecting the general topics and concepts, the authors’ reasons have not been properly identified, and there are also criticisms about ignoring learning styles, learning environment, and not explaining teaching and learning. This book is one of the resources in the field of educational technology, and it is worthwhile to examine the dimensions of its effectiveness in teaching and learning.

This article critically examines and evaluates the book German Philosophy by Terry Pinkard, translated by Neda Qatouri. The first perspective looks at the content of the book regardless of the Persian translation text and the second perspective looks at the Persian translation of the book and the translator's translation method in terms of advantages and disadvantages. In general, this book has forced the author to find a practical solution to this contradiction by presenting the paradox of Kantian reason in the theoretical field and its extension to the practical field, and the efforts of post-Kantian and post-Hegelian philosophers to find a practical solution to this paradox. To present the historical and social time in the form of the social revolution of German society in the 18th and 19th centuries. Despite the translator's efforts in translating it clearly and well into Persian, there are still some objections to the translator, such as not including an introduction to this book, which we have mentioned in the detailed text; however, this book can be useful for a philosophy student in graduate school. In this article, while reviewing and analyzing the content of this book, we have evaluated the Persian translation and suggestions for improving the translation. This book can be very enlightening and useful as an important source for the study of German philosophy, especially idealistic thinking for those interested in German philosophy.

This essay is devoted to the review of the fifth book entitled “Comprehensive Description of Mathnavi Manavi”. Naturally, reviewing and analyzing all 4238 verses of this book is more than the capacity of an article. Therefore, in this study, we attempt to show a brief picture of the shortcoming of this work by classifying the main reasons for the existing perceptions of the work and bringing one or more related examples. The author in this work relies on two important factors, named “the context of the verses” and “the use of own context sign of Mathnavi”. We have found, despite the great efforts of the respected collector, that this work has significant shortcomings such as: not having the relationship between the meaning and vertical pivot of the verses, rejecting the correct explaining of other exegetes, unrelated explanation inside the brackets with the original purpose of the verse, disregarding the connection between two hemistichs, and wrong reading of verses, etc. The existence of these things has made some meaning of verses inconsistent with the original intentions of Rumi in Mathnavi, and empty space of proper description of Mathnavi is felt.

The results of the critique and review of this book show that this book, despite some strengths such as the use of many and varied sources, the use of exercises and tables and diagrams that have played an effective role in explaining and teaching concepts, however, have many defects in the field of form and content, unfortunately. The most important formal defects include lack of strict observance of general rules of writing, interpretive and syntactic errors due to incorrect use of words and combinations, lack of formal comprehensiveness due to lack of introduction and methodical conclusion. The most important content shortcomings include repetition of the subject, incomplete arrangement and chaptering, superficial and hasty review, reliance on compilation and collection, and as a result, lack of critique and innovation.

The implementation of the practical principles of inference of religious ruling is in cases where there is no religious reason. The authority of the principles is often a Shari’a ruling, and its provisions are proved by providing the rules, although sometimes the principle applies to the issue of Shaia’s ruling. In this case, the real existence of the subject is not proved by the flow of the principles because existence and non-existence of the subject are revolutionary affairs, and they cannot be falsified by the Shari’a ruling. The principle has been reassumed in order to regulate the effects of the Shari’a on the subject, and its Shari’a ruling is established. If that subject has rational and ordinary supplies and Shari’a ruling is ordered on them, Shari’a ruling will not be proved through the main course of those supplies, since the rational and ordinary means which are real and formative follow the real existence, not the devotional and hypothetical existence. This issue is investigated as a positive principle. Outstanding people believe that the principle of affirmation of ordinary and rational devices is not the subject, and the religious ruling is not appropriate for it. This argument has been of great importance in inferencing the sentences. In this article, an attempt has been made to explain the history and principles of its lack of authority while explaining this principled rule.

Moral anthropology is a newfound field in interdisciplinary studies in moral philosophy and anthropology. ‘The Subject of Virtue: An Anthropology of Ethics and Freedom’ by James Laidlaw is one of the most effective books ever in this area. The author tries to approximate the boundaries of anthropology and moral philosophy. He uses notions and theories from both fields, and it makes the book to be more than a mere anthropological study. For instance, he draws the notions of virtue and freedom from moral philosophy and anthropology, respectively. As a result, the book could be regarded as a successful interdisciplinary study, which benefits from both disciplines and at the same time contributed to them methodologically. To do so, he uses philosophical resources to support anthropological researches. Laidlaw also wants to facilitate new resources in the field of moral anthropology and puts some figures like Foucault, MacIntyre, and Williams together to improve the discussion of moral anthropology.

The purpose of this article is to critically review the book Fundamentals and Theory of Religious Knowledge Management and its Applications by Hassan Ali Nemati Shamsabad. In this article, an attempt was made to critically and unbiasedly critique the book with a descriptive-analytical approach, citing evidence and documents based on the evaluation criteria introduced by the Council for the Review of Humanities Texts and Books. The tool of critique of the worksheet was the critique of the textbooks and academic books of the Council for the Review of Humanities Texts and Books. Criticisms were presented in both form and content. Accordingly, the main strengths of the book are the comprehensiveness of the content, systematic approach, coherent and structured view of the issues, compatibility of the work with Islamic wisdom and modeling in scientific-academic sources according to Islamic sources. One of the shortcomings and points that can be improved in the book is that it has a theoretical rather than practical effect. This article tries to add to the richness of the book's topics by looking critically at the formal and content dimensions of the work and relying on research citations.

Realism is a powerful materialization of art that appeared in 19th century in literature and painting and is still ongoing. A realism artist creates logic and relations in a work of art that comes from new sciences and social relations related to modern society. Meanwhile, Cinema as modern era art has close connections with realism for image recording and we know that from the earliest films of Lumiere brothers. with the addition of sound and color to basic silent movies, this relation continued and from mid 20th-century attitudes for social realism were increased which was reflected in works of Iitalian Neorealists and “Andre Bazin” theories. This article is a survey of the book An Approach to Realism, Cinema and the Expression of Religious Concepts that was written by Vahid Hayati that surveyed the capacities of cinema realism to express religious concepts and it is about distinguishing the common realism that reaches its climax at Neorealism movement, and a form of realism that is common to express religious concepts. In this article, Hayati’s opinions about the religious realism concept were shown. He believes this manifested in the works of Majid Majidi and especially “Children of Heaven”. It criticized his point of view about similarities between realism in Islamic and religious concepts and cinematic concept and differences based on epistemology.

The main issue of this article is exploring the nature of imperialism as a fundamental phenomenon in new age which is connected to some subjects such as development, nation-state, bureaucracy, and citizenship. The importance and complexity of this issue led Arendt to analyze and critique its multiple aspects. The purpose of this research is the description, analysis and critique of some basic theoretical and historical dimensions of Arendt’s Imperialism and explanation of some aspects of her innovations and shortcomings. The methodology of Thomas A. Spragens on political theorists is used in this research. The outcome of our quest on Arendt’s treatise is that her central problem as a philosopher has been human beings and the ecology of mankind. She has helped for promotion and accuracy of political literature by finding the distinction between definitions of some concepts. In this way, she has clarified the complexities of her treatise. Although she has criticized the humanitarian aid of developed countries to less-developed states and sees it as imperialist, she has not offered a way out of this complex dilemma. To find the cause and analyses of phenomena of the modern age, such as the anti-Semitism and statelessness that Arendt found in racism, are examples of her innovations as a political theorist.

In this paper, the book of the genre of film, from the classical to the post-classic, has been attempted from different aspects, including the general introduction of the book and the author, the external analysis, the internal analysis and position of the book, the study of its advantages and its shortcomings. The lack of genre generation and diversity in Iranian’s films and the need for more knowledge in the field of genre studies have necessitated the publication of more books in this area. For this reason, the author’s and publisher’s efforts to convey an analytical work that examines the process of transforming the Hollywood genre from classical to post-classic and describes the genres of the film in various historical, cultural, political, and industrial fields are commendable. In this text, the author has attempted to highlight some of the main issues of the genre theory in relation to the book and a brief description of the types of published books in the genre, to show disadvantages of the form, translation, and editing of the book, to identify issues that need to be reformed.

Taha Abdurrahman is one of the modern Islamic thinkers and theorists, who wants to renovate traditions by criticizing the ethics of modernity, secular ethics and putting Islam in the basis, especially in ethics. He believes that the Islamic awakening needs intellectual backing and modernization based on a spiritual experience by passing the triple levels of reason, and on this basis, he said in the book of Rohuddin about the theory of "The empirical Velayat-e-Faqih", that is based on the mystical experience. The present article tries to review and analyze one of the most important works of Abdurrahman Religious Practice and Renewal of the Reason (1989)- and shows that the author, by not discussing the good and bad reasons, has ignored the place of reason - the single mind - in morality; and why his proposed intellectual support for the Islamic awakening could cause political and social damages.

The book, Historiography: An Introduction, written in seven chapters by Roger Spalding and Cristopher Parker has studied various issues in the field of historiography and has explored contents on the philosophy of history and the method of research in history. The authors place their emphasis on the science of history (history as a report) and consider the essential components of historical inquiry as the study of historical and intellectual schools. The authors have, therefore, studied schools such as the Whig historiography, progressive Idea, National Socialism, Gender in history, Marxism, and cultural history. These sections can be a model for studying historical and intellectual schools. In addition, writers have written about undergraduate essay writing tips that are useful for students. The present article, using an analytical approach, critically reviews the book and concludes that despite its weaknesses, defects of writer’s theories, and limited perspective, it is a useful guide for undergraduate essay writing and a good model for studying historical schools.

The purpose of this article is to criticize and analyze the content and structure of “the Handbook for College Teaching”. The research method was a critical exploration. The book has been criticized and analyzed in terms of its form (advantages and shortcomings) as well as its content (intra-structure). The main positive points of the book are simple and fluent prose, expressing the objectives of the book, using simple and technical terms, presenting conceptual prerequisites, expressing the disadvantages and benefits of teaching methods. However, the negative points are its emphasis on traditional methods and its ignorance of the new teaching methods. The authors did not make a distinction between the concepts of teaching methods, techniques, and skills. There is no appropriate cohesion among the titles within the chapters. Instructional objectives are not mentioned at the beginning of each chapter. Only a few pictures and images were used to help the learners understand the text. Critical thinking methods and techniques, as an integral component of higher education, were, to a great extent, neglected. The theoretical background and the literature of the related studies do not meet academic book expectations. At the end of the article, suggestions are made to improve the content of the book.

In this article, through a fair study, review and critique of this work, we sought to identify its strengths and weaknesses and to help improve the state of administrative law knowledge and consequently improve the administrative structure of the country. This book seems to have been written for the general public, as it has not been deeply embedded in any of the dimensions, theoretical foundations, administrative structures of the Islamic Republic, and the administrative structures of the Islamic Republic in comparison with other leading countries in administrative law, and especially for law students. The East Asian Development Experience: The Miracle, The Crisis and The Future is written by Ha Joon Chang and is translated into Persian by Leila Sadat Fatemi Nasab. The book explains the causes of successful development in East Asian countries. These countries which were poor and backward after the Second World War, during a few decades, became newly industrializing countries. There are different views about the causes of the development of East Asian countries. Some experts believe that the major cause is their acceptance of market mechanisms and export orientation. While others emphasize the governments' role in supporting infant industries and encouraging the private sector exports. Chang shows that free-market mechanism was not the cause of their success. Conversely, governments' conditional supporting measures alongside effective supervision on the private sector economic performance, and emphasis on exports had a major impact in the development of the East Asian countries. “The East Asian Development Experience: The Miracle, The Crisis and The Future” is a very useful book for Iranian researchers and policymakers in the current situation. Fatemi Nasab's translation of the book is very good but there are a few problems in translating special words that seem to be related to the lack of deep knowledge in economics.

The current review is on a book entitled Not by Genes Alone written by Peter J. Richerson and Robert Boyd. The review begins with an introduction to Human sciences in Iran and the world, and different aspects are discussed. The role of biological factors and Genetics in shaping human behavior and culture is critiqued. Although this book is not a new book on this matter, it refers to the importance of culture and biological evolution. The authors describe the importance of culture for understanding human behavior and the fact that culture is part of biology. The authors believe that to understand culture, the “population thinking” (thinking that the influence on a population is the main cause of change in culture and not an individual human being) is the key. Genes and environment interact together, and both play a role in human behavior.

The current article presents a review, translation, and analysis on the brief and invaluable Kitāb al-Nagham of Yhaya ibn alMunajjim - a scientist in third century - in which there is Isḥāq alMawșilī’s account on the "Old School of Qina". This School, which existed before translating Greek books and is largely inspired by the pre-Islamic music, is much different, regarding the culture, from what alFarabi introduced. The core of this treatise is first to study the number the main notes and position them on the Oud and then explicating the notion of "Majrā" which was innovated by Isḥāq alMawșilī‘s analysis of the notation system indicates that the system is founded on ten notes which can develop into two Majrās: Binsir and Vustā consisting of eight and seven notes respectively. These two are different in at least two notes and have the other notes in common. The analysis also disproves what has been asserted so far and that Majrā is similar to mode and scale. The term “Imād” is introduced as the standard note to tune instruments accordingly. Terms such as “Saut” and “Tabaqa” which are used in the text have different meanings than what they denote today. The treatise also discusses the number and the purpose of oud’s strings. This treatise is one of the oldest works in theoretical music which has adopted an analytical approach and at the same time is similar to the practical tradition of music. This current article includes a translation of the original text in Persian, based on which a text-oriented analysis and an explication of alMunajjim’s ideas along with criticism of older accounts are presented.

The present study investigates the effectiveness of the headlines of such lessons as “writing and editing styles” and “editing workshop” (1) and (2) in curricula presented in BA course of Persian language and literature. These are amongst the most applied lessons in the Persian language and literature major that, while they improve the writing skills of the university students, they prepare them for fitting new occupational grounds whereas it seems according to the indices set by the lesson planning council that these lessens need revisions. The present study considers the indices proposed by the supreme lesson planning council to criticize and investigate the aforesaid lessons. The indices are: being up-to-date and responsive to the society needs, setting the ground for the emergence of the creativities, being in proportion to the program’s components, being coordinated with the strategic documents and plans, and being attentive to the real nature of the course. The study results indicated that these indices have not been correctly observed in the codification of the curriculum, and the existent programs have shortfalls and problems. No attention has been paid to the prerequisites, and the lessons have overlaps, and this has caused the macro-structure of the headlines to lack the required proportion. Moreover, no emphasis has been made on the learning activities contributing to the fostering of creativity. Another problem of the lessons is lack of attention paid to the strategic documents and programs, including the supervisory role of the Persian language and literature academy, and there is also no attention paid to the materials and contents of headlines to the enactments by the academy, including Persian writing styles, word choice, etc. Investigation of the materials and topics in terms of newness and being up-to-date is reflective of the structural, content-related, and lingual problems of the introduced materials in terms of not being recent; hence, a need is felt for revision of the existing headlines and materials.

The writers are feminist theatricians with radical, liberal, and social approaches to feminism, and I critically overviewed their approaches. Then I compared the feminist revision which was discussed in the second essay of the book with some samples of revisionist movements and theories in third-world and non-western communities like theories of Muhanti in India and Enloe in Malaysia. The result of this article is that even if the feminist theory of the first essay claim to pass from just-western feminist theory, ideologically is western yet, which means it believes in European- American worldview. Also, the social theory of the second essay shows the basics of social feminism in summary, yet specialized to western societies, but it can be useful to non-western societies with powerful civil societies. The methodology of this article is descriptive and uses bibliotic resources to review the book critically and see what the forte and poverty of the book's essays. My purpose is to find accessibility, correctness, and incorrectness of the discussion of the book and its writes claims about women and feminism.

The book includes a variety of sections, including the international law governing space, the legal aspects of space technology, the status of earth orbits, the environmental law, responsibility, dispute settlement and arms control. He attempted to explain each subject in a critical and analytical manner. The present paper, while introducing and editing the contents of the book and its privileges, tries to address the book’s downsides fairly and specifically addresses issues not addressed in the book.
