Arabic language, with a history from Jahiliyyah (ignorance) up to now, has been always noticed by the literary figures and authors of different nations. The relationships, challenges and exchanges between Iranian people and Arabs are so deep that it doesn’t need to mention its history. The Iranian scholars and students’ increasing interest to the history of Arabic literature increases the importance of translating and compiling estimable and original works in this area. Since Hanna al-Fakhouri’s book titled Arabic Literature History, translated by AbdolMohammad Ayati, is one of the first-hand sources of postgraduate education test in Arabic study as well as the importance and popularity of this book, this article tries to review it in an analytical-descriptive method, then introduces its weak and strong points, and finally provides some suggestions and corrections for the researchers and those who are interested.

One of the effective scientific and academic attempts is to review the works which are, in a way, compatible with academic courses and topics. Book review is a must for the dynamic scientific community, and is also a clear example of the effectiveness of literary criticism. Such reviews reveal the capacities, strengths and weaknesses of a certain work and, thereby, refresh the scientific atmosphere. The present paper is a review of the second edition of the book Metamorphosis in Myth by Dr. Mansour Rastgar Fasa’i, published by the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies Publication in 2009. In the first section of the paper, the book is introduced, and some of its capacities and strengths are discussed. The second section deals with its weaknesses. Some suggestions are presented to improve the structure and content of the book and to enrich its approaches, presumptions and discussions.

The American Neo-Conservative Journalist, Fareed Zakaria got famous in President Bush era, wrote in his book: “the future of freedom: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad”. His approach to the “end of history” shows in the book, looking at the globalizing liberal democracy but he criticizes this idea. His critics deny American political system but praise its history because Zakaria believe the historical process of the system was elitist and more efficient. This paper criticizes the discussion of his book. So the structure of book about neoliberalism and neodemocracy compare with the liberal and democratice ideas to show special view of Zakaria. Also neoconservativist view of Zakaria revised and compared with Islamic international relations.

The book entitled Against Method 1 was influenced by Blaikie and Newman's thoughts. The focus of the book is on the basis of ontology, epistemology, and the value of research paradigms (five paradigms of positivism, interpretivism, critical paradigm, feminism, and pragmatism). This book has an easy writing which suggests that the author of the book has a complete acquaintance with the fundamentals of qualitative research. Nevertheless, the book deals with issues such as the ambiguity of its title, the categorization of the critical and historical-comparative paradigms in general paradigm of qualitative research, the use of many construed concepts and constituents translated and not being translated into it, the inappropriateness of the data collection with the title of the book, and most importantly the lack of relevance to the research strategy. Nevertheless, the book has a main role and place in Iran's qualitative research. However, in the current situation, attention to the logic of research, emphasizing the distinction between different types of qualitative research methodology, the achievement of practical examples of valid qualitative research, and ultimately the efforts to publish scientific findings globally, are of the present necessity in qualitative research in Iran.

The present study criticizes the book “Foundations of Curriculum Planning of Elementary Education” by Musapour with a descriptive and analytical approach in two dimensions of form and content. In order to analyze, the method of criticism was used which is based on the "guidelines for preparing critical articles for scientific research publications, critical research papers of humanities texts and programs". After the general introduction of the work, in the first step, the points and shortcomings of the book's shape and form dimensions were pointed out. In this context, the book's cover and design, the analysis of the book's editing and writing rules, and the list of sources and sources were examined respectively. In this context, respectively attention was paid to the description, analysis, and content criticism of the book and the strengths and weaknesses of its content dimensions. In this context, respectively the appropriateness of the title and table of contents with the content of the book, the separation of the chapters of the book, and the organization and coherence of the content and presentation of the content were investigated. It was also analyzed for its novelty and applicability of the content. In the end, it can be stated that the content of the book failed to meet the reader's expectations by emphasizing the three features of the basics of lesson planning, familiarity with the lesson planning of elementary education, and practicality, and it has provided suggestions to improve the work.

Abstract Education of the history of French literature constitutes a fundamental part of the undergraduate degree programs in French language and literature in the universities of Iran. Currently, the history of French literature and the interpretation of texts from nineteenth century are offered in the framework of two courses, each corresponding to four credit units. The books written by French literature specialists are usually used in the educational curriculum. These books characteristically contain excerpts of literary texts, used for both training purposes and further detailed studies. The introduction of outstanding authors in a historical order enables us to study their works in the continuum of a dynamic literature. A French literature book without literary texts would be imperfect, as the discussions and questions arising from these texts may contribute to the development of the critical and analytical way of thinking. In this review, we have evaluated the book entitled “History of French literature: the nineteenth century”, written by Roya Letafati and Bita Moazzami Farahani. This book, which was published in 1388 by the Samt publication institute, allegedly entails the above-mentioned characteristics. The authors not only present the history of literature, but also provide the biography and works of selected writers, as well as discussions regarding the literary criticism and methodology. In addition to literary texts, the authors have provided summaries and complementary exercises, at the end of the chapters. However, this book contains several imperfections both in form and content. In this review, we attempt to address the question how far this book will meet the demands of the students of the undergraduate degree programs in French language and literature in our country.

AbstractThis paper discusses the book “Law of Peoples”, written by John Rawls. Rawls had given a new soul to the political theory after the positivism attack. He smoothed the progress of the liberalism and stretched the political liberalism; while worried about the individual liberties, limited the liberalism to its political aspect. In his last attempt, he expanded his theory to the international level, by introducing some kinds of the different peoples, liberal, decent, out of low and aggressive, among them, and tried to approve the efficiency of liberal principles to those who seek a world with less war and conflict. However, at the last part, the paper will review some critiques on the book.

One of the most important areas of research is rhetoric that is still considered by many researchers. It is one of the updated and significant areas of research which attracts the attention of many researchers, so it should be reviewed academically and orderly research and books that should be reviewed properly. Accordingly, a critical review of the book "Philosophy of Rhetoric" by Raja Eid the full Professor of the University Banha, Egypt, as the main issue of this study is selected. The important findings of this research, which are based on interpretive-critical view, show that the respected author has tried to criticize the old rhetoric and look at them with a new look, but it does not seem that much of this work has been successful in considering logical classifications, philosophical and discursive discussions.

Chapters of Kelk-e Khiyal-Angiz (Ney Publication: 2014) by AbolfazlHorri are devoted to “Theory of Literary Genres”, “fantasy and fantastic”, “uncanny in psychology and literature”, “structural approach to fantastic” and “poetics of fantastic literature, miracles and marvels in practice”. Examples of critical data include Faraj-e Ba’dazSheddat, Haft Peykar, Arabian Nights, ‘jayeb-name and stories of Sūrat al-Kahf. The main approach of the author is TzvetanTodorov approach in The Fantastic: A Structural Approach to a Literary Genre. In a general evaluation, the book has some problems: using Western theory in Persian traditional stories without any modification is not so useful, and borders of different genres have not been specified, selected cases have been chosen unreasonably. Some problems have been seen in the story analysis and some examples are not in accordance with the approach. A few terms have been translated wrongly. Moreover, sometimes there are some simple editing problems, for instance redundancy, circumlocution, and repeating make reading difficult. General and obvious results are more than needed. Referential system and bibliography have some problems as well. Above all, sometimes translated texts have been used instead of writing.

Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) approach is one of the most outstanding attempts at contemporary semantics to analyze and describe meaning cross-culturally, originated by Anna Wierzbicka. This approach claims that there are a number of universal concepts, called ‘semantic primitives’, through which any simple or complex meaning in any language can be described. It may further act as a tool for cutting across the differentiating borders of various cultures with the aim of semantic description and cross-cultural semantics. Moreover, many works have applied this approach to more than 30 languages, adding to the list of semantic primes. The present paper intends to review Wierzbicka’s book entitled “Cross-Cultural Pragmatics: The Semantics of Human Interaction” (2003), aiming at presenting her framework, looking through chapters and discussing the pros and cons and basic tenets of her approach. Finally, the paper concludes that the NSM approach is certainly promising and valuable for cross-linguistic and cross-cultural descriptions; however, a number of groundless claims should be avoided.

The book on Language Curriculum Design elaborates the process of curriculum design and provides opportunities for practicing and applying them. The book, which was written by Paul Nation and John Macalister (2010), was translated into Persian by Mirdehghān, Majidi, Hajibāgheri and Farahi, and it was published in 2016. In this paper, the Persian version of the book was reviewed and criticized, and its strengths and weaknesses (formal and content shortcomings) were mentioned. Findings showed this book has some positive points, such as introducing the concept of curriculum and the process of designing second/foreign language curriculum in Iranian general linguistic society. However, neglecting some of the principles of writing and editing, not paying attention to some grammatical points, using some incorrect equivalents for some technical terms, and being inconsistent in using the equivalents for some terms are among the negative points which could somewhat prevent the readers of the book from getting the essence of some parts of the book that much. However, due to the fact that the curriculum and, in particular, the foreign/second language curriculum has been somehow neglected among Iranian general linguists, so the translation of this book in Persian has been necessary to fill this gap; hence, the effort of its translators is valuable and needs to be appreciated.

Mohammad Taghi Ghiasi started his career of translator with the translation of a number of literary criticism books, including a Commentary on the Red and the Black of Stendhal, a Commentary on The Stanger of Camus and a Commentary on the Nausea of Sartre. According to his claims, these translations provided useful resources to the scholars and critics of his time to get acquainted with new theories of critique and their applications on literary oeuvres. To verify the validity of this claim, we should first study the history of literary criticism of Iran in order to have a better understanding of its achievements and deficiencies before the advent of the above-mentioned translations. Then, we will examine the books themselves, their framework, goals and audience, to see if Ghiasi's selection has been innovative and responsive to his time requirements. Finally, the selective-composed approach of the translator in a Commentary on The Stanger of Camus will be studied.

This critical analysis is based on the descriptive analytical approach, divided into two parts, a section dealing with content, and we are concerned in this section with the original text because the translation did not benefit us, and the other section deals with how to translate in terms of meaning and structure. The results of this research show that the issues of the book are both comprehensive and fresh book although it was published years ago. Besides, it has some flaws in the research methodology. Additionally, in terms of translation, the book is full of translation errors and semantic errors, especially in the translation of poems.

The text is smooth and easy to understand and the book cover design is adorned and unobtrusive. The author's musicologists' approach to address the subject, the use of multiple and varied sources, the multiplicity of text-related examples and illustrations, and the abstract and conclusion presentation at the end of each topic were among the most important features of this book. Considering the topics discussed in the chapters and the educational and analytical process presented, a suitable title was not selected for the book. Also, in general, the first, third, and sixth chapters of the book, the main content of which are more coherently raised in other books, cannot be considered a point in this book. In contrast, the perspective raised by the author in Chapters 2 and 8 is a special and useful discussion about the melody that has not been addressed in other Persian-language books.

The Middle East has been the important region of the world in terms of security, with many texts written about it especially in recent years. One of the recent texts on this subject is the book "Regional Security in the Middle East" by Pinar Biligin, which studies the security trends based on the relationship between the region and practical practices in the quadrangle pattern including the Middle East, the Arab Regional System, the Islamic Middle East, and the Euro-Mediterranean, with a critical approach. In this article which reviews the book mentioned above, the main question is, what is the theoretical and practical innovation of a critical review of regional security in the Middle East from Biligin’s point of view? The main hypothesis of the paper is that the critical approach to regional security, while criticizing traditional theories, has tried to introduce a new pattern of regional security derived from the security community of Karl Deutsch and his colleagues. However, in practice, its formation is facing serious challenges. Indeed, Bilgin has tried to look at the traditional views of regional security in the Middle East, introducing a native model that looks at security from the bottom up and from the inside out, although, in practical terms, regional security in the Middle East is still state-centered and top-down.

Semantic deviation means the transgression of the criteria that determines the coincidence of the vocabularies and avoiding the standard of language. Based on the research findings, we could say that semantic deviation is an important factor in the creation of poetry. In this sense, the more frequent the occurrence of this type of deviation is, the more semantic horizons in the poetry are achieved, and the achievement of meaning occurs later. In Baudelaire’s poems, the creation of new and special compositions, picturing the details, imagination, making beautiful scenes, and using pleasant similes and metaphors, led to the emergence of this kind of semantic deviation. The aim of this article is to study the semantic deviation in The Flowers of Evil by Charles Baudelaire, referring to metaphor and metonymy, and their reflection in the translations by Hassan Honarmandi, Mohammad-Ali Eslami Nodooshan, and Mohammadreza Parsayar. To reach this goal, at first, we examined semantic deviation as an important issue in the critique of formalism, focusing on Geoffrey Leech’s classification, a formalist linguist, and then the original text has been compared with its translations, and the differences between them have been studied.

Examining and criticizing textbooks is of particular importance due to its position in achieving the goals of educational systems and its foundation in improving the quality of edification and educational content. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate these resources using accurate criteria. The current research, based on scientific indicators, has criticized the book "Methods of Teaching Religious Doctrines (Heavenly Gifts), which was published by the Organization for the Study and Compilation of University Books in Islamic and Human Sciences (SAMT) for the field of Educational Sciences in 2013. The selected indicators include content, structural, formal, linguistic and method indicators. The research results show: this book has limited strengths in formal and linguistic indicators. But the very serious weaknesses of the book in all formal, linguistic, content, structural and method indicators are completely obvious. Among others, it is possible to point out the lack of updating of data, scientific problems, incorrect citations, incoherence of content and inapplicability. The lack of these indicators is such that it rejects the "scientific and educational" nature of the book. Therefore, this book lacks the most basic reviews of academic textbooks. It is suggested that a new book be written for this course based on the indicators of academic textbooks and the curriculum of religious education and training of the primary period.
