Journal Article 2019 04 11 The study of marine history is one of the important cases in historical research. However, insufficient research has been done in this field in Persian language, and it was frequently investigated by non-academic writers. <em>“The Atlas of Ports and Maritime History of Iran”</em> is compiled by a group of researchers supervised by two professors in the history field. In general, this article, as a review paper, tries to identify and scrutinize the strengths and weaknesses of the book in addition to improving its scientific quality for the future issues. To sum up, the comprehensiveness and utilization of various sources and research by using useful maps, clear illustrations, and sufficient tables can be proposed as the strengths of the book, while the dispersion and heterogeneity of the content and disaffiliation of the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea section with the Caspian Sea section are the major weaknesses of the book. مطالعات تاریخ دریایی از زمینه‌‌‌های مهم پژوهش‌‌های تاریخی است. با‌این‌حال، تاکنون در زبان فارسی تحقیقاتی پراکنده و اندک در این زمینه انجام شده ‌و اغلب نویسندگانی غیرمتخصص به این مهم دست یازیده‌‌اند. <em>اطلس تاریخ بنادر و دریانوردی ایران</em> اثر تازه و مفصلی است که آن را گروهی از محققان دانشگاهی به‌سرپرستی دو تن از محققان رشتۀ تاریخ تألیف کرده‌اند. مقالۀ حاضر می‌کوشد تا در چهارچوب نقد اثر، نقاط قوت و ضعف آن را شناسایی و بررسی کند و در اصلاح ایرادات و بهبود کیفیت علمی این اثر در چاپ‌های بعدی یاری کند. درکل، ارزیابی و نقد کتاب نشان می‌دهد که نقطۀ قوت این اثر جامعیت و استفاده از منابع و تحقیقات گوناگون درکنار بهره‌گیری از نقشه‌ها، تصاویر، و جدول‌های گویاست. درحالی‌که پراکندگی و ناهم‌گونی مطالب و عدم توازن علمی میان بخش خلیج‌ فارس و دریای عمان با بخش دریای مازندران ضعف عمدۀ آن است. https://criticalstudy.ihcs.ac.ir/article_5039_58fe82a41709a9b8e7f8d1ae88fb512f.pdf
