Methodology of Political Science aims to collect, classify, describe and analyze research methods in political science. Dr. Haghighat's book entitled Methodology of Political Science has tried to review and critique most of the existing methodologies in the field of political science. The chapters of the book have a good consistency and the esteemed author has adopted a coherent method in reviewing and criticizing the methods. In some cases, paying attention to the indigenous atmosphere of Iranian society has made the contents of the book more useful. Paying attention to the distinction between research method and methodology is one of the highlights of the present study. On the other hand, obscurity in the definition of humanities and politics, lack of a clear criterion for classifying research methods, and ambiguity in methodological pluralism are among the most important shortcomings of the book. The respected author considers the methodology of social and political sciences as part of the philosophy of these sciences. But in the study of methods, the emphasized meaning of methodology has been seriously neglected. There is a conflict between the vagueness and the predicament of the concepts discussed in the book and the claim of uncertainty in the humanities. Pluralism is defended in the field of methodology, but the multiplicity and diversity of meanings of the concepts in political science in general and Iranian society, in particular, is rejected as a crisis and ambiguity.

Karl Mannheim is a Hungarian-German sociologist and one of the leading figures in the sociology of knowledge during thirty decades of the twentieth century thirty centuries and at the same time with the rise of the National Socialist Party. He sees democracy not only as a political phenomenon but also as a prelude to the spread of democratic culture, as well as a consequence of a kind of social turmoil resulting from the displacement of classes and civic values replacing the traditional values of the bourgeois aristocracy. In this work, Mannheim tries to describe the process of transformation in sociological but abstract language. In general, it can be said that Mannheim, by focusing on the discussion of culture, has tried to show what factors hinder the realization of democracy in societies in transition and finally has offered solutions in this regard.

The curriculum in universities is a criterion of standardizing course resources for both teachers and students in order to teach and study in a definite framework. This study is based on the surveys of students about the latest curriculum in the field of political science at the undergraduate level approved by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Except the universities that develop independent curriculum, other universities can use this curriculum. For the majority of respondents, general courses have little influence on the ability of undergraduate students of political science, and the majority of respondents believe that division of bachelor curriculum into two groups of compulsory and optional courses in political science can improve the curriculum. Other items of interest to students include low number of credits of some courses, high number of credits of some other courses, lack of some courses, presence of some unnecessary courses, repetitive discussions and the old same issues in some courses, the necessity to comply with the prerequisites of courses and the mismatch between courses for undergraduate and graduate levels and the future career of political science graduates.
