Criticism and study of literary works, especially those that deal with specific types of literary types and have gained a lot of acceptability among linguists, is of great value. In the meantime, reviewing and criticizing valuable works such as "Mjm'a Al'amthal" Book by Abolfazl Meydani, which was written in the early periods of compiling Arabic literature, to prevent the change, distortion, and destruction of the valuable heritage of proverbs, to collect, describe and explaining such language becomes double. In this regard, the present study intends to provide a more profound and scientific knowledge of this valuable work in structural critique and the descriptive-analytical method. Existence of a coherent plan in arranging this work and paying attention to the expertise and scientific and linguistic ability of the author in framing the internal structure, selection, description, and explanation of proverbs using Quranic evidence, poems, narrations, stories, lexical dictionaries, show the strength of the scientific and citation aspect of the book and a unique style and awareness in arranging the book following the diversity of tastes of the audience and it has justified ignorance of some shortcomings of this work. It has made it a unique work among its peers using its linguistic and cultural backgrounds in strengthening the linguistic, historical, and cultural heritage of the Arab people.

As an enthused group in the late Umayyad period, the Abbasids sought to mobilize their resources in the engagement with the ruling dynasty by presenting a new ideology, viz. the so-called Summon System, and undertook significant actions in enticing anti-Umayyad elements to bring them under the unified patronage promoted by the slogan “al-Riza min Al-e Muhammad.” The book The Rise and Fall of the Abbasids (132‒324 AH): A Research into the Structure and Evolution of the Ideology, Economics and Military Institution is an authored work by Mohammad Ahmadi Manesh, published by the SAMT Publications in 2018. The author has fittingly organized the book in the two sections of “A Historical Inquiry” (consisting of eight chapters) and “A Theoretical Inquiry” (comprising two chapters), producing a worthwhile work. The present article attempts to review the volume, pinning down and examining its strengths and shortcomings. At any rate, as a result of the lack of due care and laxity, the volume suffers somewhat from occasional shortfalls, among them being the choice of the title “The Fall and Down…,” and a series of points that are made in the Introduction but are not reflected in the text, not to mention the author’s failure to address the complexities involved in the Abbasid rule and to adopt a holistic approach to their rise to power, particularly in Khorasan.

Prolegomena to a Theory of Language, the main work of Louis Hjelmslev, is an account of his “Glossematics” which is a complex formal theory about the nature of linguistic knowledge and the structure of human understanding in general. The current paper starts with a brief evaluation of a newly released Persian translation of this work; the problem triggering a hermeneutic interpretation of Hjelmslev’s theory in the light of Kant’s “pure reason” in the second part of the current paper is a claim about the potentials of “Glossematics” to be revived as an operational theory of linguistic epistemology in the current mainstream of Linguistics. I have shown that, like any other structural theory of human understanding, basing the “necessity” of the formal propositions of “Glossematics” on the notion of “structure” is the theory’s Achilles heel making this initially intended “self-contained” theory change into a paradoxically “transcendental” epistemology. This transcendence in turn, puts Glossematics in the same boat with Nativist epistemological schools, which are all vulnerable to similar challenges. In conclusion, Hjelmslev’s theory of “Glossematics” is shown to be another “Objectivist” theory that is ruled out by the current findings in Cognitive Sciences.

Critical analysis is an important way of evaluating the quality of textbooks. It explicates their merits and disadvantages; therefore, it paves the way for improving the design of educational materials. Naeim Amouri’s Literary Criticism attempts to introduce theories and approaches of literary criticism to the students of Arabic Literary Studies. Employing descriptive-analytical and statistical methods, this article aims to evaluate the content and structure of Naeim Amouri’s Literary Criticism. The findings convey that the author is more successful when it comes to the book’s structural organization. The accurate use of terminology, critical in-depth analysis of theories, and their practical applications could have improved the structural organization and content of this textbook.

Thepresent article has evaluated the last three volumes of Tarikh-e Adabiat-e Koodakan-e Iran (The History of Children’s Literature of Iran) in two general areas: 1. The Generalities and the theoretical grounds, including: 1.1. Not explaining the complete literature of the subject, 1.2. not having a clear theoretical base and an explicit approach toward writing the history of literature as a whole and writing the history of children’s literature in particular; 2. The structural-content problems including: 2.1. Not having a coherent structure, 2.2. Not having a clear terminology, 2.3. Not referring to authentic resources and raising unproven claims, 2.4. Covering a very vast historical domain, 2.5. Not having a clear base for the historical periodization, 2.6. Having deficiencies pertaining to the format and the appearance of the book, 2.7. Having writing and editing errors. As a whole, in spite of the theoretical, structural, and content deficiencies, the real importance of this collection is that it has gathered the source materials and documents (specially the scare documents) relating to Persian children’s literature, and one can introduce it as an important reference book in this field.

Understanding the formation and the stages of progress of Arabic fiction literature and the factors affecting its progress requires detailed and comprehensive research, as its geographical and historical and thematic broadness makes its realization difficult. Therefore, each of the various books written on the subject has met part of the researchers' needs. In the meantime, it is necessary to mention different approaches to criticism in the researchers' analysis, because each of them has sought to adapt his approach in his analysis. Evaluating the al-Revayah al-Arabiah book written by Roger Allen indicated that the author used a historical-criticism approach in editing the book. The political and social situation of Arab countries in the twentieth century was first investigated, and then by presenting fictional examples the author attempted to explain the reading of these texts of situations. The challenge that faces the book is failure to follow a systematic approach in text analysis, which has made this book only partially responsive to the needs of scholars in the field of Arabic novel and therefore it cannot be introduced as a complete reference.
