One of the most important issues in Islamic economics is how to generate theories and to criticize and praise common economic theories. Research Institute of Hawzah and University and SAMT organization have attempted to take a step forward in this field publishing the third edition of the Book of Scientific Islamic Economics Theory Building in 2012, written by Hojatoleslam Hassan Aghanazari. In this book, the author seeks to provide a way for theory building in Islamic economics by combining the teachings of Islam and the scientific method derived from the philosophy of science, but he faces two fundamental problems: Firstly, Islam, in practice, reduces to dos and don’ts, and thus its existential and epistemic propositions are prevented from playing a role in economics; secondly, by accepting experience as the evaluator and the criterion of being scientific, a proposition extends to the empiricism and its weaknesses, of course, the jurisprudential and ideological discussions of the book, especially the subject of constructions are considered as a step forward in the books of Islamic economics. To illustrate the possibility of theory building in Islamic economics, the book offers two concrete examples of this, though these two theories are more likely to be the Islamization of current economics. Therefore, the present book needs to be thoroughly revised to become an appropriate textbook in the field of Islamic economics.

This paper reviews the concepts mentioned in the book "Economics for Everyone", and provides a critical view on the content of the book. The emphasis of the book and the author's reasons for writing the book is that there is not enough exchange of information between economic students and populace about economic issues. Although the book presents difficult and complex economic concepts in macroeconomics for public community through simple,, eloquent, and fluent language, the book ., the book does not seem suitable for those people people who lack the knowledge of economy because they need to know the assumptions and concepts in this field. Furthermore, overemphasis on the simplification of the concepts has led the author to neglect many of the prerequisite concepts. This leads to the reduced cohesion andlogical arrangement in details.Despite the overall coherence and the presentation of the analysis based on the neo-classical view, it seems that the review and reorganization of work in such a way that the reader can understand the relationship between the concepts listed and the course bookhelps to increase the coherence of the book.

The text explains six main intellectual frameworks in the economic theories of development based on Cohen's paradigm. Since the publication of Thomas Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions in 1962, researchers in the natural sciences and then social sciences, particularly economic researchers tried to apply paradigmatic analysis in a variety of disciplines including development. Hunt’s book is a good example of such works. Modernization, structuralism, Neo-Marxism, Maoism, basic needs, and Neoclassical Economics as competing paradigms have been discussed in this work. The author explains dependency theory, but he does not recognize it as a paradigm. In this paper, the author’s definition of paradigm has been criticized. Another critique to the text is incommensurability of paradigms that constitute the book's approach.Economic methodologists, who viewed economics from the perspective of Cohen’s scientific revolution, have recognized Keynesian economics as a true paradigm shift in economics, and development economists recognized the shift from modernization to dependency theory as a true paradigm shift in development. Finally, institutionalist approach to economic development was neglected and has not been discussed in the text.

It can be claimed that the subject of justice is the basis and the source of different theories as well as affairs management in the arena of human social life. Social science theorists cannot escape from resorting to a concept and theory of justice in order to prove or justify their theory in any of these sciences. In the analysis of each theory of justice, three factors are considered: • First, the basis of justice: what does the theory think about the basis of justice? The answer to this question also identifies the methodology of the theorist of justice in explaining his or her conception of justice.• Second, the scope of justice: What is the scope and area in which the theory of justice is offered?• Third, the definition of justice: What does the concept of justice represent?Rawls, in the Theory of Justice, has tried to answer all three questions, and the same integrity makes Rawls' theory of justice, among remarkable ideas of justice in recent decades. In this paper, while introducing the general structure of the book and a brief reconstruction of his theory, criticisms of the book, with emphasis on two factors - the scope and the definition of justice - in Rawls theory, are discussed.

Explaining the concept of resilient economy and putting it forward as current discourse requires a thorough literature review. The purpose of this paper is to review and critique the book “Analysis of Macroeconomic Indicators in Iran with Economic Resistance Approach” written by Ahmad Tashkini and Amir-Reza Souri. Review of this book in terms of form features showed that it lacks some of the necessary components such as preface, author’s introduction, list of tables and figures, and overall conclusion. 25 percent of tables are also set as graphs unnecessarily. In some cases, there are some misspellings, grammatical errors, and weaknesses in academic writing. Overall, the quality of typography and layout is moderate and that of printing and binding is good. Book content review revealed that economy’s performance has been analyzed once during 1959-2012 in five irregular periods, and once again during 1981-2012 in eight four-years periods without any specific explanation. The analysis is often limited to descriptive analysis of trends lacking causal analysis and scientific citation. The main challenges of the economy in recent decades has been reduced to dependence on crude oil, imposed war, low productivity, low market financial depth and international sanctions. To address these challenges some solutions have been suggested such as recreating the role of government, empowerment, liberation, development of a competitive environment, improvement of business environment, reducing dependence on oil, attracting foreign investment and development of financial markets. These guidelines are very general and have already been mentioned repeatedly, and their relationship with resilient economy is not well explained. In the analysis of the contents, the related literature has not been reviewed and no room has been allocated to review other’s views. Using relatively much more data, this book is superior to its counterparts with rhetorical and non-statistical structure, but in terms of references there are some weaknesses such asnon-sufficient scientificreferences, non-accuracy in referencing method, lack of scientific integrity. The theoretical foundations and presumption of the book are not clearly stated. It can be inferred thatthe author assumed that the resilient economy is the same as making the economy resistant. Sometimes evidences implicitly showed a kind of biasness towards government intervention approach, and sometime in favor of free market system. The suitability of this work with Islamic principles and attitude is very decent. This book can be used as a supplementary text through which the university students can get familiar with Iran's economic challengesand economic policies of resilient economy.

The aim of this study is to discuss the method of teaching economics with a localization and modernization approach. Since the field of economics is constantly evolving and progressing, achieving this goal requires continuous modernization. Therefore, teaching economics with localization and modernization approach is inevitable. The localization of economics in all societies requires much attention to the structure, conditions and realities of the economy as well as the norms and values of the societies. In Islamic societies, such requirement means that economics has to be thought with an Islamic approach. The key to succeed in this matter is the availability of economists who are well aware of Islamic economics with great experiences in teaching and conducting research and also the availability of relevant materials and textbooks in this field. According to the findings of the study, the first step in teaching economics is to begin with critical evaluation of the concept of economic man and to continue with investigation of some methodological considerations. To this end, it is need the scientific theories should be considered as a set of explanatory propositions explaining the causal relationship between the variables involved. These propositions consist of presumptions, normative propositions and positive propositions. Religious beliefs and moral values are highly effective in structuring the presumptions and creating and developing the scientific theories. The study indicates that the education system should give a great priority to the way of thinking about economics and using creative approaches. Likewise, blind promotion of economic theories should be avoided. We should not give any ideological importance to the presumptions and the dominant analytical approaches, and one must avoid acceptance of these presumptions and theories without adequate attention. Unlike the dominant claim in the economic literature, the actual behavior of people is severely affected by moral considerations and consists of a very rich set of values and moral preferences. The empirical evidence shows that in developed societies like the United States, Germany and Russia, as well as communities such as migrating tribes of Indonesian, people’s behavior is not based on selfishness. In the present time, people show significant interest in moral and religious approaches, and the Islamic societies are faced with high demand for providing Islamic economic texts and teaching economics with Islamic approach. To this end, it is necessary to arrange and draw up economic courses with an Islamic approach for undergraduate and higher levels, particularly as regards microeconomics.

The dynamism of any science depends on fair criticism of the published works in that field. Undoubtedly, writing and publishing a new work in any field is greatly concerned with the review of previously published works as well as evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses. Such evaluations help to publish new books with less deficiencies and more creativity. The Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies is one of the Iranian official organizations responsible for reviewing educational and course textbooks inhumanities by its expert academic reviewers. The Institute accomplishes this task through the Iranian Council for Reviewing Books and Texts on Human Sciences. In economics, management and accounting majors, “Money, Currency and Banking” is an obligatory course in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Applying the indices set by the Iranian Council for Reviewing Books as well as the reviews done by the reviewers, the present paper aims to study both content and form of 15 published books in the field of money, currency and banking both individually and collectively by using the content analysis method. The results indicate that most of the reviewed books are graded between 3 to 3.99 out of 5 in terms of both form and content.

In his work, Dr. Barzegar Khaleqi, with an access to a huge collection of scholarly works on Khaqaniincluding descriptions, books, excerpts, and essays, has described 50 odes of Khaqani’s Divan. Despite all the admirable attempts of the exegete, this exegesis is not free of errors and defects. The present paper aims to briefly study some of these flaws.

In this paper, the two books called “Macroeconomics” by Rahmani and Branson are examined as textbooks for undergraduate and postgraduate courses respectively using an analytical approach and in terms of being updated. The analytical approach of both textbooks is based on the traditional framework in teaching macroeconomics and the Neoclassical-Keynesian synthesis. In order to realize whether they presented updated material, both textbooks were compared with two standard textbooks in Macroeconomics. Some of the concepts and topics not covered in Rahmani’s textbook in comparison to Blanchard’s are mentioned in this paper. The concepts and topics in Romer’s Macroeconomics which are not examined in Branson’s textbook are also discussed.

The method used in the review is analytical-descriptive, which involves introducing the book, highlighting its strengths, and discussing its major–and some minor–issues. The results indicate that the book is appropriate in terms of form. However, in terms of content, it displays a lack of order, (overall and partial) incoherence in discussions, and unsystematic emphasis on some viewpoints. Nevertheless, this work is more comprehensive in comparison to a set of selected books that are usually taught in the course “Principles of Economics (2)”.

I This research attempts to not only study the status quo of preparing theses at Iranian universities in the fields of Islamic banking and economy, but also explore the existing challenges in this area offer solutions to them. To this end, this study investigates a sample of theses defended at the University of Tehran, Shahid Beheshti University, Allameh Tabataba'i University, Imam Sadiq University, Tarbiat Modarres University, Mofid University, Al-Zahra University and the University of Economic Sciences. The findings of the research which have been obtained through the methods of library research and content analysis reveal that a significant number of defended theses focused on conventional economy. In the best-case scenarios, they have applied those areas on Iran’s economy. Thus, theses in which the concepts and applications of Islamic banking and economy are directly explored are few and far between. Furthermore, there appears to be a number of specific challenges and factors leading to the poor research in the area of Islamic banking and economy, which cannot be ignored. The findings of this research offer clear-cut solutions to reform the system of research in Islamic banking and economy.
