Historically, after the movement of constitutionalism (Mashrouteh), secularism got engaged with Iran, but it was notattended as a problematic concern for the Iranian intellectuals. When Islamic Republic of Iran was established, everything changed and it turned into the focal point. So, many questions regarding theocracy, secularism, humanism, happiness of mankind, and political Islam started to occupy the minds of many individuals. Of these concerns, some intellectuals tried to conceptualize Islamic Secularism." Mansour Mirahmadi wrote "Islamic Secularism: A Critique on Muslim Intellectuals" trying to show incapability and incompleteness of their design and its inconsistency with logic of Islam theories and practices. Reviewing the book structurally and qualitatively, we mentioned its formal and conceptual problems.

The purpose of this study was to review the book entitled "The Identity of Religious Science: An Epistemological View in Relation to Religion and Human Sciences" (Bagheri, 2003). In terms of form, the book had the most sought criteria and was therefore desirable. The author, in content, has shown an attempt to achieve a religious model in proving science and paying attention to the experience. However, the book also has some shortcomings, including: 1) neglecting the interactive effect of the senses, wisdom and heart, 2) reduction of reality to evident reality, 3) lack of logical link between ontology, epistemology and methodology, and 4) reducing the sources of knowledge and limiting the criterion of certainty to empirical matters. Given that a) the senses, wisdom, and the intuitive perceptions form knowledge in permanent interaction, b) all human experiences are related to the rational insight and the intuitive belief of the individual that is determined; therefore, it is desirable that Muslim scholars, based on the interaction and coordination between the senses and the mind and the heart, explain the way in which the human perceptual system is manifested, providing criteria for distinguishing correct perception of incorrect perception.

This article aimed at examining the position of what is often described as Max Weber’s most important work “Economy and Society” in his thought. According to a Parsonian and totalizing reading of Weber, there is a break between an early Weber (a Weber focusing on methodological reflections on conceptualizing “Historical individual” and “The Protestant Ethic and Spirit of Capitalism”) and a late Weber (a Weber focusing on “Economy and Society” and “Interpretative Sociology”); this break is based on a transition from historical individuality to sociology as an abstract, typological and universalizing science. In this text, I want to demonstrate that this transition is not a break but a tension-fraught continuity and that Weber’s thought (both early and late Weber) focuses on the different historical-individual formations of “modern capitalism” and “iron cage”. To do so, I will first review the history and structure of “Economy and Society”. Then, the before-mentioned transition will be examined. Then I will deal with the unavoidable tension in Weber’s thought in order to outline a critical and productive dialogue with him.

Vere Gordon Childe, an Australian archaeologist and historian, was one of most spectacular figures in archaeology and history in the first half of the 20th century. He took a methodologically synthetic approach to offer particular issues which are still given attention by pre-historians and historians. In this respect, his influential book History, targeting a survey of current theories on the history and historiography, was so given attention by academics in Iran that has been translated and published for several times. In this paper, it is attempted to review the Persian version of the book and that the methodological synthetic approach taken by its author about the historical order and the variables of such interpretation on the history.

Drawing archaeological finds is one which stands out among the other means of documentation and information transfer in archaeological science. A wide range of objects is drawn during archeological activities. The present paper criticizes the translation of a book on the drawing of archeological objects. The main book in the original language is outdated, but it is a relatively reliable source. Considering that this book was regarded as one of the most important sources of drawing even before translation, its translation into Persian doubles its importance to Iranian archaeologists. The translated version of the book, which is published in Iran, suffers from the literal translation, unfamiliar and unusual equivalents, and low quality of the printed images, which play a major role in increasing the readers’ understanding of the content of the book. It should be considered that mastering the English language and having extended knowledge of the wide range of objects and archaeological finds are necessary for the translation of sourcebooks.

The complete poetical work of Khaghani (Khaghani’s Divan) is one of the worthy works of Persian literature that is famous for being difficult to obtain and understand. Thus, Khaghani's Divan has been less favored by commentators than other Divans of Persian poetry. In the meantime, the felicity and excerpts have impeded Khaghani's Divan as well, and several excerpts from Khaghani's odes (qasidas) have been described and published. One of these works is a book entitled " Cities' Reciter of Elegies ", written by Mohammad Reza Barzegar Khaleghi and Mohammad Hussein Mohammadi and published by Zovvar Publications in 224 pages. The present paper reviews this work and also points to some of the falsehoods and inaccuracies that have been attributed to it. Problems that will be discussed in detail include using the works of others without citing them, silence against difficult and problematic Khaghani’s verses, misinterpretations of certain verses, confusing sources, many typographical errors, and omitting some aspects of Khaghani’s poetry.

Criticism and study of literary works, especially those that deal with specific types of literary types and have gained a lot of acceptability among linguists, is of great value. In the meantime, reviewing and criticizing valuable works such as "Mjm'a Al'amthal" Book by Abolfazl Meydani, which was written in the early periods of compiling Arabic literature, to prevent the change, distortion, and destruction of the valuable heritage of proverbs, to collect, describe and explaining such language becomes double. In this regard, the present study intends to provide a more profound and scientific knowledge of this valuable work in structural critique and the descriptive-analytical method. Existence of a coherent plan in arranging this work and paying attention to the expertise and scientific and linguistic ability of the author in framing the internal structure, selection, description, and explanation of proverbs using Quranic evidence, poems, narrations, stories, lexical dictionaries, show the strength of the scientific and citation aspect of the book and a unique style and awareness in arranging the book following the diversity of tastes of the audience and it has justified ignorance of some shortcomings of this work. It has made it a unique work among its peers using its linguistic and cultural backgrounds in strengthening the linguistic, historical, and cultural heritage of the Arab people.

It is crystal clear that stepping stones of each educational system hinge on its books and educational materials. That is why many teachers and scholars try to criticize and improve the school books. The present paper aims at criticizing and analyzing English book in 7th grade of middle school in Iran. Based on the Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based Model (DIR) and Emotion-based Language Instruction, the researchers attempted to conduct interviews with a number of 7th grade students to pin down the amount of their interests and satisfactions with the vocabularies and images of this book. In this interview, 60 students of 7th grade were asked to elaborate on the level of their interests to learn the book. Furthermore, 10 English language teachers were interviewed to express their emotional reactions to the vocabularies. The results of the study indicated that neither the students nor the teachers were emotionally satisfied with the book. Finally, the results were discussed and some suggestions were made in the context of English language learning and materials development.

Four major criteria for evaluating a textbook include evaluation of achievements with regard to the theoretical principles in the field in question, comparison with related books, assessment in the context of the system that is intended to use the book, as well as assessment against the author's implicit or explicit presuppositions. With a view to the above criteria, this paper seeks to review Hassan Hashemi-Minabad'sAmoozesh-e Tarjomeh [Learning Translation] (1394). In the first section, the theoretical foundations of developing translation textbooks are discussed. Section two briefly deals with the issue of translation textbooks in Iran. Within this context, Hashemi-Minabad's book is reviewed in the next section. As discussed in the conclusion, the major advantage of the book is that it is based on the author's experience of teaching translation in an academic context. Moreover, the formal features of the book seem to have been prepared with great care and precision. Also the translation materials are presented in a logical easy-to-difficult order. The major drawback, however, is lack of a solid translation-theoretical basis so that the learner is not given the opportunity to infer a set of systematic principles for themselves. In conclusion, the book does not meet the requirements of an academic textbook and should be rather used as a complementary material which is rich in practical examples.

To do so, first, the standard criteria for writing an educational book are introduced, then the extent to which this book has benefited from those criteria is evaluated using the content analysis approach. Some results of the study show that the book does not satisfy 59 main criteria, satisfies 39 and meets only 6 criteria partially. Besides, the topic of the book reveals that it contains both theoretical and practical issues related to teaching Arabic language to non-Arab language learners. The analysis of the introduction part indicatrs that the book does not clarify the significance of the book nor does it review the similar books in the area of the topic.

Preparing an academic course is an urgent need which makes university instructors write books and textbooks. Ali Salimiś book "Criticism and Critics in Arabic Literature", deals with Criticism in Arabic Literature. It is a pedagogical text containing: a table of contents, a preface, and three chapters (on the development of criticism, literary elements, and renowned critics). The stated purpose of the writer is to have an overview of literary criticism and its development in the classical and modern Arabic literature. After a careful analytic study, the following qualities are enumerated as the advantages in the format of book: covering, binding, lettering, pagination, titling, and paragraph writing. The related flaws include simple covering design, typing mistakes, poor grammar, spelling mistakes, and poor eloquence. In terms of content, the advantages are good table of contents, impartiality, accordance with Islamic principles, and the sciences curriculum. The negative points in content are inconsistency between the titles, poor referencing, ambiguity in academic accordance, mismatch between title, content, and course objectives, and poor terminology. All in all, it is worth mentioning that the book is qualitatively poor, and this article aims to offer points in settling the flaws. Observing these suggestions can make the book fit for educational purposes.

In order to address this issue, it is first of a kind to state and non-state rivals of the United States in the present era, which includes China, Russia, Brazil, and India, and then criticizes the performance and power levels of each of the above governments as a serious threat. For the future, Joseph Nye did not close the United States as a global hegemonic force but would suggest US strategy makers to work multilaterally in their engagement with the government’s powers to address the national security and global security challenges. A critique of the form and a method of content critique in the form of three indicators of structural critique, critique of power dynamics, and critique of the concept of power constitute a set of regular and categorized reviews, each of which has been discussed in this article.

Nudge introduces libertarian paternalism approach through empirical evidence on the behavioral biases in decision making and the impact of environment on them. The libertarian paternalism approach, which is called nudge, is any aspect of choice architecturing that changes people’s behavior in a predictable way without changing any options, hence, retaining individuals’ freedom of choice. Because there is no neutral context, the authors argue that paternalism is inevitable. In such a situation, public policy can nudge people towards making better decisions that are also superior in the future. The authors suggest that experts should be hired to make sensible choices. In addition to problems of adverse selections by experts, the main challenge of libertarian paternalism is unstable preferences and inevitable choice between desirable outcomes in long run over short run. In the light of enormous amounts of attention absorbed by the Nudge that is apparent in several translations in Farsi, this paper tries to review and scrutinize the libertarian paternalism approach.

Šahrestānīhā ī ērānšahr is a Middle Persian treatise about the historical geography of Sasanian cities in Iran. So far, this treatise has been translated and published in Persian by Hedayat, Oriyan, Taffazoli, and Daryaee. In 2002, Daryaee published this text with Persian and English translation, and in 2009, Jalilian translated Daryaee’s book into Persian. In the present study, we examined Jalilian’s translation of this treatise. It is noteworthy that Jalilian mentioned in his book that the translation of the Middle Persian text is from Daryaee himself. To make the review more accurate and to compare it with other translations, Daryaee and Taffazoli’s translations are cited and compared. First, the transliteration of each sentence is mentioned, and then the translation is written in chronological order. Then, the review of the translations is mentioned. It can be concluded that each of the translations of Middle Persian texts into Persian has new points that, in turn, will help us to better understand Middle Persian texts and ancient Iranian thought.

This article reviews the book Can Democracy Be Saved? Participation, Deliberation and Social Movements Written by Donatella Della Porta. Della Porta’s main question in this book is, "Can democracy be saved?” And his response is to “going beyond its liberal model, broadening reflection on participation and deliberation inside and outside institutions" through social movements. Della Porta's book is two books in one. The first part of the book deals with the normative discussion of the evolution of the concept of democracy from liberal to deliberative in the last two centuries. The second part is the practice of democracy by social movements in the contemporary world in light of the evolution of the Internet and social networks, which seeks to move from representative democracy to direct democracy. This book is a discussion of the New Left and radical democracy, which seeks to transition from representative democracy to deliberative democracy through social movements. Contemporary social movements, according to Della Porta, are no longer labor movements, unlike in the past, but include a wide range of people and have a high capacity for mobilization using new communication media.

Abstract The book Alfitnah Jadaliyyah fi al-Din wa Alsyasah fi islam Almobakker by Tunisian thinker and historian Dr. Hisham Djait is among the globally acknowledged works that was translated into Arabic in December 1991 and published by Dar-altalieh Publications in Beirut. The book which is divided into five chapters gives an account of the important historical events occurring during the thirty years after the time of the Prophet (pbuh) and analyzes those incidents with an emphasis on the events which happened during the last years of Othman’s and Ali’s caliphate. Religious unity, building an Islamic state and jihad, conquests and Islamic Empire, the battles of Jamal, Siffin and Nehruvan are the basic issues discussed in the book. The term fitnah is used to refer to the five-year period of the Caliphate of Rashedun; a historical setting that, according to the author of the book, that was a combination of internal strife and religious conflict that ultimately resulted in sectarianism and break in the Ummah of the Prophet (pbuh). Despite the importance of this period, and regarding the fact that till now no serious historical study is done concerning it, the author of the book has tried carefully, deeply and obsessively to produce a historical account of this time. In the present article, while giving a formal introduction on the book, the researcher has evaluated and criticised the given book

These two characters aim at de-democratising the present democracies in order to formulate democracy in the post-democratic time. Therefore, the return of politics resulted from de-construction of the current western democracies insofar as the enemies turn into adversaries. The process of transforming politics and discourse to the political is the subject of this essay.

Development as a specific concept for scientists, politicians, and the public has some validity, so any resistance to it needs great bravery. Despite its validity and importance‚ the development paradigm envisages with many critiques and challenges‚ so the buzzword is impasse in this paradigm. This article proposes some methodological impasses in development paradigm and presents that the post-developmentalism goes beyond these impasses through new perspectives. The key point in this article lies in the fact that in the discussion of post-developmentalism, the role of development has turned from the state and elites to the society and people. It is worth mentioning that the present review is based on the book entitled “The End of Development? It is a comprehensive book with encyclopedic features that endeavors to review and explicate the theory of genre throughout history. A review of the book shows that although the authors have achieved their goals relatively, the book needs to be reviewed and revised particularly concerning the content and the method of the study. The concept of the subject, along with concepts such as object, God, and substance, is one of the most important concepts in the history of philosophy. Each of these concepts can be used to narrate a history of philosophy. This is precisely the mission of Robert C. Salman that he sets out for himself in his book The Rise and Fall of the Self (A History of Western Philosophy, Vol. 7). He began the history of the subject, or, in his own terms, 'History of the Self' from the beginning of German idealism in the second half of the eighteenth century, with Kant (together with prominent idealists such as Fichte, Schelling, and Hegel), to the first glimpses of the collapse of modern subjectivity and proliferation of critical approaches, such as Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, and Heidegger. In the end, he ends his discussion with the most prominent postmodern figures, such as Foucault and Derrida. The present article focuses on the first Persian translation of this book, rather than the formal and content review of this work. As a result, the present article is more than a mere critique of the book’s content itself, a critique of translation that, although it criticizes a particular translation, hopes that this critique will provide a critical analysis about the translation of philosophical works in general.
