The book “Making a Good Script Great” aims to help its readers develop their skills to express a dramatic story. In this regard, the author, by explaining story structure based on the three-act structure, turning points, climax, and creating characters, introduces the reader the fundamental issues of rewriting the script. But, the author’s main intention is commercially oriented. . Her evaluation system is purely based on selling movies and Hollywood. Besides, reviewing American cinema is not seen in the book. Reducing the whole world of cinema to the Hollywood, putting the three-act structure as the basis, and the ignorance of any other alternative structures in all affairs of script, are considered content problems of the book.

Different approaches were taken by scholars in the field of Islamic art studies, each placing their reliance on different concepts. In the meanwhile, historicism is based on two elements of embeddedness and interpretation. In this approach, the center of gravity of studies corresponds to understanding the cultural concepts of objects and the architectural works in the specific time and place embed of producing these works, hence the factors, roots, and embeds of the realization of Islamic art is historically studied and its meaning is investigated as interpretation . Some critics' misinterpretations about the historical approach to Islamic art studies led to the concept and semantic confusion in this approach, therefore, the present study mainly concerns about providing a clear definition of the concept of historicism and its methodology through introducing and criticizing one of the most prominent works written by this approach. The Book of "The Ilkhanid Shrine Complex at Natanz, Iran", written by Sheila Blair is a striking example of the historicism approach that is of particular importance in terms of the methodological understanding of such studies.

The present article tries to criticize the book "Autodidacts Art, A Naive Art". This book is the first Persian compilation in this field, which has been used as a qualified reference and an educational guide text. Therefore, the critical review of this book would not be unnecessary. The main claims of the author are to define the Naive Arts and their categorization and to propose the theoretical debates around these kinds of the arts. In this way, the author intends to achieve several goals, such as drawing a history of the origin and introducing some of the most important artists in this trend. At first, the article explores the content categorization of the book and criticizes the boundaries and the relation of the proposed concepts. By redrawing the author's initial pattern, this article presents a methodological analysis to establish the foundation of the book. The strengths and innovations, as well as the ambiguities and weaknesses of the book would be discussed at the end of the article.

The relationship between cinema and religion has been discussed in Iran and the west. But, due to the perspective diversity of religions, this relationship has been analyzed from different points of view. The main goal of the current research is to find the key differences between the perspectives of Christianity and Islam on cinema and critical analysis of the views of the scholars in this field. To this end, two major common themes, i.e. the relationship between cinema and religion and the possibility of the realization of religious cinema as well as the relationship between form and content in religious cinema, have been discussed from the point of view of the theoreticians of the religious cinema in Iran and America. Among Iranian scholars, we have discussed the views of Seyyed Morteza Avini, Mohammad Madadpour and Nasrollah Tabesh concerning the religious cinema and with regard to the part devoted to the ideas of western scholars, we have referred to the translated works by Robert K. Johnston, Clive Marsh, Bryan Stone and Margaret Miles. This study concludes that despite the attention paid by some Muslim theoreticians to key issues and the emergence of new ideas concerning religious cinema in Christianity, the available theories have numerous deficiencies and no efficient theory has been developed yet. This research is fundamental in terms of objective and is descriptive-comparative in view of its implementation method.

In the book Visual Developments of Iranian Art, authored by Siamak Delzand, the author attempted to provide a theoretical explanation of developments in Iranian art in the first half of the thirteenth century SH through a descriptive analysis. Beyond linear narratives, the author has tried to address the dominant anti-discourses. He gained some significant successes along this path, but his effort can be criticized. The author has emphasized that, contrary to the post-colonial perspective, he has pursued another path in this book and criticized the post-colonial perspective that ignores "regional agencies", and he has been looking for regional agencies in Iran. By focusing on the concept of 'exhibition order', the author deals with the external and internal agents that reproduce this order and describes how this process has overwhelmed Iranian art. Such structural perspectives, restricts the author in studying the internal agency, therefore, the author's attention to the anti-discourses lacks an analytical approach and the text has been narrowed to describe the works and introduce the artists. The present article criticized and analyzed the theoretical details of the book. Although there are criticisms of the book, sources like this can provide the basis for introspective and endogenous theorizing about Iranian art.

The association between Literature and Music is represented mostly in Vocal Music and the music of poetry. It is notable that the new compiled written works in the literary-musical field of “poetry and vocal music association” has encountered new issues rather than finding equivalence for metric and rhythmic prosodic meters of Persian poetry which literary criticism has remained far from studying them. On the other hand, in recent decades, “Music of Poetry” concept with the formalist theme has suggested aesthetical criteria in studying and criticizing Persian poetry, and it has benefited from musical terms such as musicality, harmony, orchestration, etc. while musical critique has not presented any comment on written works of "music of poetry". Complexity and scarcity of theoretical sources of critique, its psychological and sociological obstacles are the reasons for the literary and musical criticism passivity in these areas. The findings of this article indicate that the term music in "Music of Poetry" is contrary to its definition by musicologists. They also represent that the study of written compiled works of “poetry and vocal music association” can considerably help to develop and extend new prosodical perspectives in the field of literary criticism. The results of this research as an interdisciplinary study include some suggestions for identifying and increasing the mutual interests of literary and musical criticisms, the most important of which is a proposition to form study groups and hold conferences on “Criticism of Poetry and Music".

This article is a review of the book An Introduction to Atonal Music Analysis by Amin Honarmand, published by University of Tehran in 2014. This book consists of four main chapters. It begins by general issues on the analysis of atonal music in chapters one to three and focuses on structure of dodecaphonic music in the last chapter. Even though the roots of atonal music are not in Iran, one may doubt why the author has chosen to write a book in this issue rather than translating readily available books written by Western scholars to Persian. It seems that the main reason for choosing to write a new text rather than translating is the need of Persian students for a simplified source in this issue. The review of this book showed that Honarmand has been somehow successful and the output is clear enough for students who need basic knowledge of music analysis of atonal music. The review of this book also revealed that one may not find all aspects of atonal music in this book, and it still needs further resources to make a complete analysis of atonal music, particularly in aspects of harmony and orchestration. However, the book perfectly disuses pitch classes and pitch collection issues and to a good extent dodecaphonic music analysis. Before reading this book, the reader needs good knowledge of tonal music and related issues of that kind of music in order to make a better sense of absence of tonality in configuration of atonal music.

In this paper, the author attempts to identify various aspects of values and the shortcomings of the book by purposefully reviewing the book of "Exhibiting Photography" based on the four axes of the overall introduction of the book and the author, external analysis and the origin of the book and its author, internal analysis and place of the book, and critique and evaluation of the book, and providing a good overview of its functional features and form. In this vein, the author, by drawing on a holistic view of the translations of photographic texts in Iran, outlines the general situation of the Iranian photography community at the time the book was published. Then, he analyzes the contents of the book in detail from the proposed perspective and evaluates the useful items and shortcomings of the book and concludes that despite the existing shortcomings, both in the structure of the book and in translation, the benefits of this book for the current photography community, and in particular the academic community, is far more than its shortcomings, provided it is favorably introduced to academic and art centers.

The present paper concerns with an assessment and review of the book titled "The formation and development of proto-writing in Iran (from pre-writing to Proto-Elamite)". The book is interesting which makes it one of the fundamental breakthroughs of human cultures and humanity, namely how the formation of writing systems as well as their archaeological origins. More importantly, taking a deeper look, the main concern of the book is to examine theperiods of very beginnings of early writing systems through an attempt to discuss pre-writing stages which have had an immediate effect on the earliest forms of ancient writing. The paper aims to highlight the weaknesses as well as strengths of the book by emphasizing the significance of a deeper analysis of the issues related to why and how of the rise of early writing. It will be suggested that the author, despite his relative surveillance on the main sources of information both archaeological and theoretical about the beginning and evolution of early writing, has failed to treat and explain archaeological, epistemological, and ontological foundations of the topic comprehensively, from the pre-writing levels up to earliest forms of writing in proto-historic Iran. This process would reduce such a substantial subject which could create a basis for bringing up some of the most significant archaeological and epistemological problems on the consequences of writing genesis and evolution just to three relatively non-uniform chapters. The paper shows conclusively the fundamental importance of the evolution of earliest writing systems in Iran, not only on the basis of its economic and social consequences, but also according to its overall influences, on transforming the concept of being-human and its relation to the world.

The book titled "Theoretical and Practical Bases of Film Music: An Essay on Film Music in the World of Islam", is the first published book in Iran which deals with the study of theoretical and practical fundaments of the use of film music. By employing a fresh look, the book investigates the most important elements and instruments in music and drama in the context of "The common Expression Potentially". By reviewing the role of the film music in Egyptian silver screen, it shows new aspects of music in Islamic countries’ cinema, as viewed by the Eastern artists. In addition, by comparing the two religious films i.e. Mohammad the Messenger and The Passion of the Christ, from the view of film music representation, the favorable performance of the film for expressing the semantic layers of the film has been designed. The present paper has pointed out some certain strengths of the book such as the good quality of studying the artistic elements and instruments of music and drama, coherent and multilateral analyses relevant to the Egypt cinema, innovation in raising the point of representation of the music of religious films and expressive and fluent expression. Also, with respect to the form of the book, typography, the printing quality of the photos, editing and misprints can be mentioned. Through the analysis of the content, it has dealt with issues such as the effect of lacking the title of the second chapter which deals with semantic coherence, the non-comprehensiveness of the topics such as “form and choosing instruments, and “music representation” due to a weak compilation and insufficient references to the available sources
