The purpose of reviewing books is to improve their quality and to make more and better knowledge available to students and readers. Curriculum planning is one of the specialized courses in educational sciences; however, there is unfortunately a lack of resources in this field. Most of the existing books in the field of curriculum planning cannot be introduced to students as useful resources for their university courses. The reason is their huge volume, abstrusity, or a lack of compatibility with thecourse descriptions approved by the Supreme Council for Planning. In the present paper, the book “Principles of Curriculum Planning” by Mohammad Hossein Yarmohammadian is briefly introduced, and then reviewed from two perspectives of form and content.

Paradox is not only a literary rhetorical device or a poetic image, but also a logical, philosophical and cosmological concept. It had been neglected in the rhetorical and literary works of the past due to its being regarded the same as other literary devices such as metaphor. Persian poets, especially in mystical literature and modern poetry, have used the richest paradoxical ideas in their poems. In the light of such paradoxical phrases, their poetic language has gained a permanent effect and novelty. Using paradox, the poet reconciles between contradictory and incongruent matters, and creates the impossible which is the most beautiful and wonderful image of imagination. Paradoxical ideas were obviously manifested in Sanai’s mystical poems. Therefore, the oldest examples of paradoxical ideas can be found in his works. In the present paper, the issue of paradox in Sanai’s works is studied.

One of the effective scientific and academic attempts is to review the works which are, in a way, compatible with academic courses and topics. Book review is a must for the dynamic scientific community, and is also a clear example of the effectiveness of literary criticism. Such reviews reveal the capacities, strengths and weaknesses of a certain work and, thereby, refresh the scientific atmosphere. The present paper is a review of the second edition of the book Metamorphosis in Myth by Dr. Mansour Rastgar Fasa’i, published by the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies Publication in 2009. In the first section of the paper, the book is introduced, and some of its capacities and strengths are discussed. The second section deals with its weaknesses. Some suggestions are presented to improve the structure and content of the book and to enrich its approaches, presumptions and discussions.

The dynamism of any science depends on fair criticism of the published works in that field. Undoubtedly, writing and publishing a new work in any field is greatly concerned with the review of previously published works as well as evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses. Such evaluations help to publish new books with less deficiencies and more creativity. The Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies is one of the Iranian official organizations responsible for reviewing educational and course textbooks inhumanities by its expert academic reviewers. The Institute accomplishes this task through the Iranian Council for Reviewing Books and Texts on Human Sciences. In economics, management and accounting majors, “Money, Currency and Banking” is an obligatory course in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Applying the indices set by the Iranian Council for Reviewing Books as well as the reviews done by the reviewers, the present paper aims to study both content and form of 15 published books in the field of money, currency and banking both individually and collectively by using the content analysis method. The results indicate that most of the reviewed books are graded between 3 to 3.99 out of 5 in terms of both form and content.

Khaqani Shervani is one of the renowned poets of the sixth century, who outstripped many other poets in saying complicated poems by using an intricate technical style as well as citing many scientific, religious, historical, mythological terms and folk beliefs in his poems. That is why many of Khaqanischolars have attempted to reveal some hidden mysteries of his poems in addition to editing his Divan. By explaining full verses or a selection of them, they have tried to help researcherswith Khaqani’s poems. Exegesis of Khaqani's Divan by Dr. Mohammadreza Barzegar Khaleqi is one of the mentioned efforts. In his work, Dr. Barzegar Khaleqi, with an access to a huge collection of scholarly works on Khaqaniincluding descriptions, books, excerpts, and essays, has described 50 odes of Khaqani’s Divan. Despite all the admirable attempts of the exegete, this exegesis is not free of errors and defects. The present paper aims to briefly study some of these flaws.

The present paper aims to review one of the well-known and recognized books in the field of macroeconomics, which is an academic textbook for the undergraduates majoring in economics or other related fields. The method used in the review is analytical-descriptive, which involves introducing the book, highlighting its strengths, and discussing its major–and some minor–issues. The results indicate that the book is appropriate in terms of form. However, in terms of content, it displays a lack of order, (overall and partial) incoherence in discussions, and unsystematic emphasis on some viewpoints. Nevertheless, this work is more comprehensive in comparison to a set of selected books that are usually taught in the course “Principles of Economics (2)”.
