The present research was conducted with the aim of criticizing the book "Introductions to Educational Technology". In this regard, using the educational critical research method, the book written by Khadija Aliabadi, 16th edition of 2019, was criticized. The tool for data collection was the academic textbook review worksheet of the Council for the Review of Texts and Books of Human Sciences. After receiving and completing the sample sheets, the qualitative content analysis method was used to analyze the data. According to the findings, the advantages of the book include appropriate design in terms of volume and shape, calligraphy, good quality of printing and binding, smooth text and simplicity of content, compatibility with Iranian Islamic values, and use of reliable scientific sources. Also, the results showed the shortcomings of the form and content of the book including the oldness of the content and resources, especially in the section related to media, lack of coverage of the latest topics considered by the Ministry of Science, weakness in analyzing and criticizing the content, lack of innovation and creativity in content design and coverage, being free of common scientific content in the field of educational technology.

Book evaluation is considered a prerequisite to developing or republicating educational books. Therefore, utilizing an evaluation checklist, 12 university professors, selected through purposive and convenience sampling, evaluated two ESP books in nursing, published by Oxford University Press and SAMT. The findings of the qualitative analysis revealed that the book published by SAMT, no longer seems suitable for today's students. Quantitative analysis indicated that Mean score given to SAMT’s book was significantly lower than Oxford’s. Despite the lack of visual appeal and audio-video files, little variety in the teaching and testing methods, with the old reading-oriented approach, without paying attention to phonetics and grammatical issues, and being far from the language teaching theories, this book has recently been republished for the nineteenth time. Although the problems underlined in SAMT’s book are not observed in the Oxford’s, this book is not error-free, either. It does not fully meet the needs of Iranian students since its major focus is on language use in the career-related contexts with an equal attention to all skills. This comparison can help the authors and syllabus designers in the field of nursing to prepare, compile, and edit books, using the strengths of the existing books.

Since textbooks are one of the main learning resources in any curriculum, evaluating them for the benefit of the author and the audience, as well as their effect on students’ performance is an essential and valuable undertaking. This article evaluates English for the Students of Fabric and Garment Design and Sewing Technology book authored by Akram Nasher (2017), from English for Specific Purposes (ESP) books series. To this end, the book was evaluated based on Mahmoodi and Ahmadisafa’s model (1393). Also, according to the model and for the purpose of gaining experts’ views in the field, the researchers conducted semi-structured interviews with three Fabric and Garment Design experts from Art, Al-Zahra and Science and Culture Universities of Tehran. The results indicated that despite problems and shortcomings in the texts, exercises and activities, the book has enough educational adequacy and can be used as a source of Specific English. At the same time; however, it requires serious revision in order to eliminate the existing deficiencies. To fulfill this need, the researchers and experts have made useful suggestions

One of the serious harms of management education in Iran is the weakness of the content of textbooks and the lack of attention to the practical dimension and skill-building in writing them. The purpose of this article is to review and compare management textbooks in the field of organizational behavior at home and abroad. After reviewing various books on organizational behavior that are taught in management schools in the country and abroad, four common textbook titles , two domestic book titles from SAMT Publication and two foreign book titles from McGrawHill Higher Education Publication were selected. Then by using the comparative case study method, the similarity and difference of these four books were analyzed and compared based on appearance and content indicators. The research findings show that the two domestic textbooks are mainly written with a theoretical approach and their content is not up to date, while the two foreign textbooks are compiled with a practical and skill-building approach and have flexible, up-to-date and integrated content. Then, the content of one of these books (as a benchmark) was examined in more detail. Finally, a framework for compiling and reviewing management textbooks in Iran was presented.

Administrative correspondence is one of the standard Persian languages that has its own writing characteristics in terms of vocabulary, fixed structural and style stereotypes. Teaching such a style of language use, especially teaching language as a foreign language (based on the example of teaching Persian to Russian speakers in the subject of research) has its own characteristics and methodological solutions. Reading and translating the text of Persian administrative correspondence has difficulties for Russian speakers because of the following reasons: first, the tendency towards Arabicism in correspondence, second, the change of the meaning of some Arabic words adopted in Persian, and third, the characteristic of flattery extremism as an expression of politeness in Persian correspondence. All these reasons have made it more difficult for foreigners to read and understand the basic text of administrative and commercial correspondence. Although the book Persian Language - Correspondence and Business Documents written by Habib Najafov, is a valuable treasure of the collection of administrative and commercial correspondence between Iran and the Soviet Union/ Russian Federation, at the same time it has its drawbacks and the absence of a Persian-language editor in reviewing the texts of the "conversation" section, the use of incorrect stylistic applications in the language under the influence of frequent errors of Persian speakers, teaching the use of words in the language, which have become obsolete, such as "concerning the superiors" are some of them.

The book Children’s Literature in Iran is a university textbook that covers most of the topics of the Ministry of Science, for two units of “Children’s Literature” course at the undergraduate level. The author of the book is Mohammad Dehrizi, one of the authors of “Writing” book in high school, a graduate of literature and one of the poets and writers of children and adolescents, who has won several national awards. The book was first published in 2009 under the title Iranian Children and Adolescent Literature, and its new edition was published in 2020. The book has many positive aspects, but due to common methodological weaknesses between this book and many books which are written in the realm of children's literature, the present study prefers to critique this book from an approbation point of view, rather than a critical one. A book has a scientific function to the extent that it can present the paradigms of a theory to the reader in a systematic hierarchy. Therefore, the main purpose of this article is to examine the method of systematizing the paradigms introduced in the book. In this regard, the book is reviewed in six areas: education, methodology, content, editing, chaptering, and aesthetics. This research, for the first time in Iran, reviews a book in the field of theoretical literature for children and adolescents.

The book was written by Karen S. Ivers and Ann E. Barron in 2010 and translated by Khadijeh Aliabadi and Esmail Aslani in 2016 and published by Booka Publisher. This paper has been compiled by applying the method of document analysis and reviewing the scope of the book’s merits and shortcomings and reveals that the text has shortcomings in spite of the acceptable consistency with the original text, refinement and fluency, and the availability of specially qualified vocabulary including the lack of designing a teaching-learning strategy and analyzing multiple intelligences during the process of the idea to evaluation, lack of operational and precise strategies for implementing the cooperative learning strategy (collaborative learning), the lack of attention to the details of the steps and activities of each proposed model, lack of attention to the conceptual separation of the flowchart with the content structure and the inability to select some appropriate titles according to the content. The book’s usefulness as a teaching guide for a collaborative multimedia project learning strategy is high as a source of training in electronic content production courses at the undergraduate and even master’s degree courses. Therefore, it is suggested that writers improve their formal, structural, and content defects by resolving them.

The most recent textbook, by Dr. Khosro Bagheri was published by the Organization for Researching and Composing University Textbooks in the Humanities. Taking these two points into consideration, the current book is introduced and evaluated; however, its modification and completion in the next edition will certainly provide an opportunity for a unique textbook to be developed in philosophy of psychology. In the present study, after the introduction of different chapters of “Philosophy of Psychology Science”, the book is evaluated from several angles, including (the appearance, title, consistency with the approved course of this credit, appropriateness with the approved syllables of the relevant courses, and the appropriateness of books with similar books). The evaluation result indicate that the present book “Philosophy of Psychology Science” which is written by Khosro Bagheri, as a textbook of “Philosophy of Psychology Science”, has many advantages; however, it revision in the next edition in terms of name, volume, chapter numbers, title and content, is needed in order for it to be matched well with the developed topics for this course. Finally, one suggestion would be offered, improving the philosophy of psychology science course and some reasons for that.

In the fifth century AH, the Seljuk dynasty extended beyond the borders of the present-day Iran, and they linked the history of Iran with neighboring territories. Therefore, the study of the history of this dynasty is very pivotal. In this regard, the work of "Seljuks from the Beginning to the End" by Abolghasem Forouzani in seventeen chapters is an attempt to examine all aspects of the Seljuk government. The question that arises is to what extent the author has been able to analyze and explain the various aspects of the Seljuk government based on the publication objectivesof this textbook. Therefore, in this article, the critical and analytical approaches and the book validity are investigated. According to the conducted research, various relevant findings can be pointed out. Despite the variety of topics covered by this work on the Seljuk dynasty, it is a highly valid resource, especially in regard to the civilization and cultural aspect, which are considered among its most significant advantages. However, the application of the narration method in this work is majorly prevalent. Being used as an academic textbook, it will therefore be difficult to make an analytical understanding of the Seljuk era.

Welfare Economics is a branch of economics that Muslim economists have made no effort for understanding, reviewing, and naturalizing it so far. The book entitled “Textbook of Welfare Economics From Islamic Perspective” is one of the first works attempting to explain and review the common welfare economics, while revealing some aspects of Islamic teachings in this regard. So, such a difficult task is admirable. In the present article, we have referred to the difficulties as well as the necessity of such discussions, while reviewing some of the features of the book pertaining to its form and content to advance the knowledge in that area. Regarding the content, in addition to some internal problems and shortcomings in resources and references, there are three main criticisms; first of all, despite the complexity of the subject, the presented analysis does not have the power to convince the readers and make them confused. Secondly, the content of the book does not correspond to its title, it does not have many features of the textbook, it deals more with the topic of “Philosophy of Welfare Economics” than “Welfare Economics”. In terms of comprehensiveness, there are gaps in some vital issues, such as the “Function of Social Welfare”. Third, there are some flaws in the use of specialized terms such as “Objective or Subjective Welfare”, “Individual and Social Welfare”, and “Welfarism and Extra Welfarism”.

Textbooks are considered as one of the most essential requirements of any educational process (2003) and play an axiomatic role in many formal educational settings alongside other pivotal elements including teacher and learners. Undoubtedly, the evaluation and appraisal of such a critical component of education is not only a permanent need in any such context but also it directly enhances the quality and efficacy of educational practices. The present study critically appraises a textbook entitled "Understanding Research in Applied Linguistics". For the stated purpose, both content and facial aspects of the text are meticulously reviewed and evaluated. The most notable merits of the book include a good variety of activities designed, an extensive use and review of the related literature, and highly acceptable mechanics of writing; however, lack of rigid consistency and coverage of the stated objectives in the main text, fluctuations in the difficulty level of the language used and the inconsistency observed between the already designed ministerial syllabus and the content of the text are among the most salient shortcomings.

The book "Analytical Approach to Rhetoric" is one of the recently-published scholarly textbooks in the field of rhetoric that, while relying on the basics of traditional rhetoric, has attempted to use new approaches in this field as well. Moreover, the critical aspect and the approach of this book to review the most prevalent issues in the field of rhetoric, which have been stated in previous sources as well as its attempt to provide a detailed investigation of some of them, absolutely justify the title of this book. The shortcomings of this book are categorized into general and specific ones. The general ones include some problems such as print mistakes and typos, the lack of literature review and the method of referencing and bibliography whereas the specific ones comprise those flaws which appeared in relation to the subject and structure of this book. There are some cases like improper selection of evidence and misreading of them that sometimes have led to false analysis and recognition of rhetorical principles. In this critique, the weak coherence of the book in managing the discussion as well as evidence and categorizing the content has been pointed out, and also its mundane verbosity and unnecessary brevity has been discussed.

The General Persian Book is one of the academic curriculum resources that has not been designated for its part and several books are written by the professors of Persian literature for it. The review of 12 General Persian books in this study shows that the type of perception and the attitudes of the professors to the nature of "literature" are very effective in the writing this books. In most of these books, the purpose and perspective are not different from the high school Persian books, and the approach of most of these books is to provide attractive and informative selections of literary texts. The difference between books is mainly in the presentation of different excerpts from the texts of order and prose. The position of the author's thoughts is apparent only in the selection of texts, and books are not primarily designed and written. The effort to present a selection of high and sublime texts has marginalized other discourses and literary currents in these books. In most of these books, there is no role for the audience, and from this perspective, they have a static and passive approach. The results of this study highlight the necessity of compiling a book on the subject of literature as a public school curriculum.

In recent decades, lots of introductory books were written on the subject of Ethics and Morality in English and in other languages as well. These books help students get familiarized with this subject, but most of them are not comprehensive, and they only focus on some issues, especially normative ethics, and on some issues in Applied Ethics. The shortage of good textbook in the philosophy of Ethics and Morality is much more obvious in Persian, and there is no comprehensive book available in the subject that satisfies the academic criteria. One of the introductory books, but comprehensive, is “Ethics: An Introduction to Moral Philosophy” compiled by Noel Stewart. In this book, the main fields of ethics (metaethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics) are discussed. The unique and conspicuous features of this book is its cohesion, comprehensiveness in arguments and discussions, critically assessment of arguments, brevity and clearness. So, it is a comprehensive and cohesive textbook for researchers to use in the field of moral philosophy. In this paper, having introduced the content of the book in detail, the advantages and disadvantages of the book will be studied technically and by content analysis.

In addition to some form of lacunae, this work also suffers from significant deficiencies and deficits, including the lack of use of first-hand resources, the lack of a logical and consistent table of contents, inaccuracies in the titles of some chapters, and quantitative non-proportionality between chapters. It is hoped that the respected author in subsequent publications will pay attention to this assessment in order to elevate the scientific level of the book.

In recent years, several organizations and institutes such as the Center for Studying and Compiling University Books in Humanities (SAMT), the Research Center for Humanities and Cultural Studies, the Research Center of Seminary and University, Payam Noor University, among others, are active in publishing such books. Under the auspices of such centers, many history books have been compiled by researchers and teachers of history, and some of these books have been assigned as textbooks for universities. What is lacking is a series of books reviewing such textbooks so that they may increase in richness. Reviews can serve as guides for future writers since they show the strengths as well as the shortcomings of university books. The present work is a review of a book recently published under the title of The Knowledge and Criticism of the History of Iran after Islam. The book has been assigned as a textbook for students of history. Results of the present review show that although the above-mentioned book is an appropriate textbook, it suffers from some shortcomings in terms of both form and content.

Many books have been written about field archaeology universally, but the number of books published on this subject in Iran is rare. One of the books published on this area in Iran, is "Field Archaeology: An Introduction" by Peter L. Drewett which has been translated into Persian by Hojjat Darabi. The book has been published in the field of archeology as an academic textbook for the course of "Methods of Archaeological Excavation and Survey", but does not cover all the topics discussed in this course. One of the strong points of the book is that various discussions on the archaeological excavation are briefly presented in a rational and understandable order. In addition, the Persian translation is fluent, although a careful editing may even improve its quality. The main weak points of the book are the lack of attention to the archaeological survey, a close link with the archaeological issues of Iran and the Middle East, and the lack of necessary parts such as introducing sources for further study. Also, a summary and conclusion at the end of each topic could help the reader. All in all, the book can be used as a guide for archaeological excavation, but it suffers from some deficiencies to be considered as a textbook.
