نقد کتاب کاربرد پیکره در تحلیل گفتمان

چکیده

کاربرد پیکره در تحلیل گفتمان نوشتۀ پاول بیکر (2006) توسط انتشارات کانتینیوم (لندن و نیویورک) در 207 صفحه منتشر شده است. کتاب بر دو موضوع اصلی و ایجاد ارتباط بین آن‌ها متمرکز است: تحلیل گفتمان و زبان شناسی پیکرهای. تحلیل گفتمان که ماهیتی میان رشته ای دارد، در سال های اخیر مورد توجه بسیاری از زبان شناسان به‌ویژه پژوهشگران علاقه مند به مباحث جامعه شناسی زبان بوده است. پیکره زبانی مجموع های از متنهای نوشتاری یا گفتاری است که می توان برای توصیف و تحلیل زبان از آن بهره گرفت. تحلیل پیکره های زبانی که معمولاً با استفاده از رایانه انجام میشود، می تواند بسیار جامع باشد و حقایق متنی را پوشش دهد. بیکر در این کتاب نشان می دهد می توان یک تحلیل مناسب از عناصر زبان شناختی را با یک تعبیر اجتماعی انتقادی از این مشخصه ها تلفیق کرد. از جمله نقاط قوت کتاب شرح جنبه های روش شناختی، استفاده از نمونه های عینی، شرح مراحل کار با استفاده از تصویر و نمودار و شرح امتیازات و نقاط ضعف استفاده از روش پیشنهادی می باشد. روشهای تحلیل متنوع معرفی شده در این کتاب میتوانند در تحلیل گفتمان پیکره-بنیاد استفاده شوند. در این مقاله، علاوه بر معرفی کتاب، نقاط قوت و ضعف کتاب واکاویده می شود و به این منظور نقدهایی که بر این کتاب نوشته شده اند نیز مرور می شود.

Using Corpora in Discourse Analysis by Paul Baker is published by Continuum, in 2006 and consists of 207 pages. The book focuses on two main subjects, trying to create a connection between discourse analysis and corpus linguistics. Discourse analysis which is an interdisciplinary field by nature, has recently been the focus of many linguistic studies, especially the ones that are related to sociolinguistics. A corpus is a collection of written or spoken texts that can be used as data in linguistic descriptions and analyses. Analyzing a linguistic corpus which is usually done by computers, can be very comprehensive and can cover a lot of textual facts. The main objective of this book is to show that it is possible to combine a proper analysis of linguistic elements with a socio-critical interpretation of these features. Some of the strong points of the book are as follows: comprehensive account of methodological aspects, using real examples, displaying the procedures using figures and diagrams, and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of the suggested methods. Baker introduces different and various data analysis methods, which can be used in corpus-based discourse analysis.
