From the very beginning, the study of scholars, poets, and writers’ lives and keeping written records of their literary works and commentaries were considered the first steps towards literary historiography. This movement has developed from the traditional biography writing into modern scientific literary history. Arabic which inherits a modern literature has benefitted from some seminal historiographers who undoubtedly keep a lot of new literary findings in their works.Al-jame fi Tarikhe Al-adabe Al-arabial-hadis is one of the recent loops of Arabic literary historiography circle whose author, Hana Al-fakhuri, has attempted to tender a worthy history by using modern theories. In spite of having some good points, the number of problems and shortcomings has pushed this book away from the scientific criteria of literary history writing and made it close to the traditional works. Because of this important reason, the main objective of this article is to study the pathology of this book from a critical point of view within a descriptive-analytical framework.

The book “the History of Arabic Literature in Hadith Era” written by Nader Nizam Tehrani is about the history of Arab contemporary literature. In this book, by considering contemporary literary events and movements and also pointing to the poets of the era, the author tries to present an overall picture of Arab literary life. The study of the book shows that like other written works, this book cannot be considered the best of its kind and has some deficiencies which should be resolved in the next editions. In this article, by considering different dimensions of the work, taking an impartial approach and applying logical principles necessary for a scientific critique, the author tries to see to what extent the original writer (of the book) had adhered to the scientific standards of writing, and how he has used them to realize pedagogical goals. Furthermore, by evaluating the book as a pedagogical resource, the author of the article will determine to what extent it holds the features of a technical and specialized work.

This article presents a brief commentary on the book Afaq Al-She'r al-Arabi fi Al-Asr al-Mamlouki, written by a renowned Lebanese author Yassin Al-Ayyubi. Accordingly, after a general introduction of the work, the result of the review and criticism comes in two discussions of form and content. The results of this review indicate that along with strengths such as proper bookbinding, precise layout and typography, complying with the writing and editing rules, multiple attachments and profiles, appropriate arrangement of the triple chapters, and using numerous and valid references, this book has deficiencies in terms of form and content, the most important of which include: using lexical obscure and ambiguous words, confusion in referencing and the arrangement of references, the broad and repetitive subject of the book, the lack of a methodical introduction and ending to some parts and many chapters, the incomplete arrangement of some chapters, and thus the similarity and even the overlap of the themes of some chapters, using common and cliché titles for the chapters, exaggeration in defending Arabic poetry and literature in the Mamlouki era, and unscientific compliment and praise, some ethnic and religious orientations and biases, lack or weakness of analysis and criticism due to relying on the collection of content from multiple references, and weakness of science innovation and production.

Understanding the formation and the stages of progress of Arabic fiction literature and the factors affecting its progress requires detailed and comprehensive research, as its geographical and historical and thematic broadness makes its realization difficult. Therefore, each of the various books written on the subject has met part of the researchers' needs. In the meantime, it is necessary to mention different approaches to criticism in the researchers' analysis, because each of them has sought to adapt his approach in his analysis. Evaluating the al-Revayah al-Arabiah book written by Roger Allen indicated that the author used a historical-criticism approach in editing the book. The political and social situation of Arab countries in the twentieth century was first investigated, and then by presenting fictional examples the author attempted to explain the reading of these texts of situations. The challenge that faces the book is failure to follow a systematic approach in text analysis, which has made this book only partially responsive to the needs of scholars in the field of Arabic novel and therefore it cannot be introduced as a complete reference.

He has shown modernism in different aspects of the works of poets. He has also compiled an excellent list of modernists and looked at different aspects of their poetry including the new language of poetry, novelty, structure, imagery, musicality, and intention. The voice of the author is clearly heard in this work through which he discusses different views and confirms or disconfirms them with acceptable evidence, and wherever possible expresses his own independent views on modernism

Ilmud-dilalah” (Semantics) by Ahmad Mukhtar Omar is among the books translated into Persian by Seyyed Hossein Seyyedi, a faculty member of Mashhad University. Considerable usage of the main and original research sources by the writer, and his command of the record of studies done in semantics in the Muslims’ old linguistic heritage have given the book a special position in the semantic studies, which makes its translation necessary. The cover design, typography, page layout, punctuations, and typographical errors of the translated book were considered in the examination of the form. Examination of the content of the translation focused on the faithfulness in translation of all parts of the book, faithfulness in full translation of the text, faithfulness in conveying the content, specialized terms, literal translation, explanatory footnotes, and the citation style. In this translation criticism which is based on a contrastive attitude, two categories of the options and limitations of the translator were examined, but the focus was more on the limitations. Examinations showed that the translation was done so hastily, and in practice just little scientific and literary revisions were done on it. It has caused a number of errors and shortcomings in this translation to be greater than the number of its advantages, and many parts of the book need to be translated again.
